"Human?" Nurse Alice asked with an even voice.
Nick was forced to unveil his past.
The reason for that was simple.
Nurse Alice believed that Nick was a Specter, and it was a fact that Specters would not throw their lives away for anything.
So, no matter how many times Nick said that he was willing to sacrifice himself to kill her unless she unveiled her secrets, she would always think he was bluffing.
She would only believe that he would throw his life away when he actually did it, but by then, it would be too late.
But what if Nick wasn't a Specter?
What if he was a human at heart?
At that point, it would be believable.
There were plenty of humans who sacrificed their lives for others.
In that case, it was possible that Nick would sacrifice himself to kill her.
"Yes, I used to be human," Nick said. "My name was Nick Dusk, and I became a Specter when I consumed a Peak Elder."
