"I just came back from town. I brought some small things to sell in exchange for a few eggs."
As the woman spoke, she looked at Shen Qinglan and asked Dong Yao, "And this is?"
"You don't recognize her?" Dong Yao asked with a smile.
The woman shook her head and said, "She looks familiar. Is she from the Dong family?"
Dong Yao chuckled a few times before saying, "This is Qinglan."
"What? She's Qinglan?"
The woman looked at Shen Qinglan in astonishment. No wonder she looked so familiar.
"Qinglan, this is Aunt Hu." Dong Yao introduced her to Shen Qinglan.
Shen Qinglan turned her head and greeted Aunt Hu softly.
"She actually became much smarter after such a serious illness?" Hu Shi said in disbelief.
"Isn't that so?"
Dong Yao smiled at Shen Qinglan and said, "Her father and I were also shocked!"
Mrs. Hu looked Shen Qinglan up and down as she mumbled, "God bless you. You'll definitely be blessed in the future."
Shen Qinglan's skin had been fair since she was a child, but because she was usually covered in dust and dirt, her whole face could not be seen clearly.
She wasn't stupid anymore, so she was cleaner and looked quite pretty.
After Dong Yao looked towards the sun, she quickly said, "I can't talk anymore. I still have to go back to the fields in a while. I have to leave now."
When Hu Shi heard this, she nodded and said, Alright, hurry up and go. The sun is quite scorching, so don't let the child get sunburned."
Shen Qinglan nodded at Hu Shi, then continued to walk forward with Dong Yao.
After they had walked for quite a while, Dong Yao whispered to Shen Qinglan, "Hu Shi isn't a bad person, but she has a big mouth, so when you see her in the future, just avoid her."
"Oh!" Shen Qinglan replied.
Her uncle's house was on a small path at the entrance of the village and was surrounded by a row of fenced trees.
Shen Qinglan and her daughter had just arrived at the door when they heard the sound of children crying from inside.
Dong Yao pushed open the gate and walked in while shouting, "Who made Little Tao cry?"
"Hello, Second Aunt!"
Shen Qinghe carried her little nephew Shen Tao, who was still crying, as she walked out.
"Ah, Qinglan is here too? Come in and have some tea."
Dong Yao took the chicken into the kitchen and said, "No need to serve tea. Today, your cousin and sister hunted some prey in the mountains. I brought over a pheasant for Little Tao."
Shen Qinghe said," Just keep it for Qinglan. There's nothing lacking here."
"I still have some more, and it's enough for her to eat," Dong Yao said with a smile.
Seeing that Shen Qinghe was alone, Dong Yao quickly asked, "Where is your mother, your elder brother, and sister-in-law?"
Shen Qinghe said, "They went to town for something. Little Tao just woke up and cried because he didn't see his parents."
Shen Qinglan raised her eyes and glanced at the pitiful little guy. The little guy was also looking at her timidly.
"Hug!"
The little guy suddenly reached out his hand to Shen Qinglan. Everyone present, including Shen Qinglan herself, was stunned.
She had never carried a child before. Besides, she thought that with her personality, children would not like her.
"Little Tao, Aunt Qinglan can't carry you," Shen Qinghe hurriedly said.
Unexpectedly, just as she finished speaking, the little fellow looked like he was going to cry again.
Shen Qinglan tilted her head and hesitated for a moment. In the end, she still reached out her hand and carried the little guy over stiffly.
Strangely enough, this person had just entered her arms, but was already smiling very happily.
Shen Qinglan felt that this little brat would be more likable if he didn't pull her hair.
