His handsome expression immediately softened into a tender look of concern, and he said very gently, "Honey, Clarissa is very safe."
"Really?"
Though Ella Lacey trusted her husband, her heart never truly settled. During dinner at the restaurant, she was calm, assured that Clarissa would be alright.
But now, as bedtime approached, she worried again about her daughter; whether everything would be familiar to her, where she would rest, if she would be able to sleep… After all, Clarissa was out there without Ella beside her.
This was Clarissa's first meaningful journey away from family, on her own.
