Lican had been waiting patiently, still savoring the comfort of the chair as he chewed on his jerky.
Click!
The door opened, and a fat man entered.
Lican's brows rose slightly as he stared at him. The man was dressed in purple robes embroidered with gold, the luxurious fabric immediately catching the eye. Yet his belly was enormous, almost like that of a pregnant woman. He clasped his hands together, adorned with numerous rings.
The fat man walked into the room and looked at the ragged boy sitting before him. His lips twisted slightly, and he almost turned around, already wanting to scold Dilah.
Is this the young master she called me here to attend to?
While he was still cursing in his thoughts, the rather handsome youth turned to look at him.
That was when he noticed it.
The presence.
Those eyes were the eyes of a killer.
No... a demon.
No, how could a child have such an aura of slaughter?
His eyes resembled those of a maniacal beast, yet there was a strange calmness behind them. That calmness somehow made the brutality within him even more terrifying.
What a weird child.
"Hah, hah! I was informed that we have a special guest. I hope you're comfortable. I'm sorry for our lack of hospitality. Dilah is new here."
The fat man said it with a smile spreading across his face as he hurried over, carrying a bowl of fruit.
Behind him, Dilah rolled her eyes, knowing perfectly well that the fat man was lying.
Wasn't he the one who refused to come just now? And now he's putting the blame on me.
"Ah, Dilah told me you are here to trade?"
Fat Luo asked after placing the bowl of spirit fruits on the table. He then made himself comfortable in the chair, his enormous stomach jiggling as he sat down. The sight almost made Lican chuckle.
"Ah, I'm Luo the Wolf, but you can call me Fat Luo instead," he said proudly.
Lican's lips twitched.
How does he look like a wolf? He looks more like a pig.
"Lican," he replied simply.
"You can check the materials and see what is worth it," Lican said, waving his hand toward the pile before casually picking up another fruit.
The moment he said that, Fat Luo rushed toward the materials as though he had been waiting for those exact words.
"Twenty-four medium-grade beast cores," Fat Luo murmured as he began inspecting them.
His eyes narrowed.
"These aren't ordinary cores either. Rare beast cores... Hmm."
He picked up another item.
"Ice Breath Grass."
Then another.
"Crying Ginseng Root..."
Fat Luo's expression changed slightly.
"Hmmm. The Crying Ginseng Root is notorious for escaping. How did he manage to catch one?"
He turned his head and glanced at the youth sitting behind him, calmly savoring a spirit fruit as though none of this concerned him.
Fat Luo's eyes narrowed thoughtfully before he turned his attention back to the materials.
For the next thirty minutes, he carefully sorted through everything, separating the most valuable materials from the rest and inspecting the beast cores one by one.
By the time he finished, a satisfied smile had spread across his face.
If we auction most of these materials, we'll earn a considerable amount.
"Hahaha... Dilah, Dilah!"
Fat Luo suddenly turned toward her, staring at her with an unusually warm and caring expression, as though she had just brought home a mountain of gold.
Dilah's eyes shifted toward him.
She froze.
The way this disgusting Fat Luo was looking at her made her feel as though she were a piece of beast meat he had just discovered.
Hmph.
"I'll be going. I have something to attend to..." she said timidly, glancing at Lican before quickly walking out of the room.
Fat Luo ignored her and turned toward Lican with a sheepish smile.
"Ah, she's such a lazy girl. Don't be annoyed, Young Master. You only have this Fat Luo to attend to you. Hahaha!" he said, his thick skin showing as though he had not noticed Dilah's displeasure at all.
Lican simply nodded.
"I'll give you twelve thousand coins for the twenty-four cores."
Fat Luo paused, waiting for Lican's response.
There was none.
Lican continued chewing his fruit, his expression completely calm.
Fat Luo's smile stiffened.
"I'll make it thirteen thousand. That's as far as I can go," he said firmly, though deep inside, his heart was bleeding at the amount.
Lican, still chewing his fruit, was slightly surprised. He hadn't expected the cores alone to be worth this much.
However, he showed none of it on his face.
He simply nodded.
"Hmm."
"Hah, hah... Okay, okay."
Fat Luo laughed nervously as he stared at the beast cores, looking at them as though they were his own children.
"I'll give you four thousand coins for the spirit herbs and the remaining materials. That brings the total to seventeen thousand spirit coins," Fat Luo said with a serious expression.
Lican, whose expression remained blank, was deeply surprised by the deal. He nodded before saying,
"Not bad."
"Good, good! Hahaha!"
Fat Luo laughed happily.
He hurriedly stored the materials into his universal pouch. This did not surprise Lican, since he knew a large business like the Flowing Vein Pavilion could not possibly be lacking in wealth.
Fat Luo smiled as though he had just married a new wife.
"Ah, Young Master, do you need anything else?" he asked, completely shameless.
Lican's brows rose.
Then he nodded.
I might as well ask him instead of walking around the city looking for these materials.
He took out a list and handed it to Fat Luo.
Fat Luo hurriedly accepted it and glanced over the contents before breaking into hearty laughter.
"Hahaha! We are meant to be!"
He slapped his enormous belly.
Lican nearly vomited at the sentence.
Fat luo continued reading the list
Arcane stone, mortal-grade.
Spirit brush.
Talisman papers.
Cooking spices...
Fat Luo's brows furrowed when he reached that part of the list.
Cooking spices?
He scratched his chin.
Is this young master planning to run away from home and start a new life somewhere?
He shrugged and continued reading.
Clothes.
Fat Luo nodded at this one. The young master definitely needed clothes.
Then his eyes narrowed.
Wait...
His gaze shifted toward Lican.
Don't tell me this kid ran away because his family is forcing him into marriage.
Fat Luo stroked his chin thoughtfully.
Young blood these days... Running away from home just because his family found him a wife? If the girl is pretty, what is there to complain about?
He shook his head with the wisdom of an old man who had absolutely no business giving marriage advice.
If it were me, I'd carry her home myself.
He continued reading the list before looking back at Lican.
"I can get you the other materials, but this spirit brush..." Fat Luo paused. "We only have one in stock. But don't worry, I'll get it for you."
He then continued seriously, "You'll need spirit stones to operate it. One spirit stone can last you a year, unless you reach the Qi Condensation realm can manipulate Qi yourself."
Lican nodded. He already knew about all of this.
"How much does it cost?" he asked.
"Not... not much. Hahaha. I'll give you a discount. Eleven thousand spirit coins."
Fat Luo said it while staring at the ceiling, deliberately avoiding Lican's eyes.
