Chapter 31 - The Fall of the Realms: Heaven Falling Down

Michael: He glared at the fallen tower, his grip around his sword tightening with barely contained fury as his eyes bore into Lucium. "Do you have any idea what you've done? Without that structure, damned souls can't even be brought into Hell! You've doomed the mortal world by tearing it apart and colliding it with the spiritual one!" He raised his blade above his head, sending a slash of holy fire down upon the floor in Hell, vanquishing every evil beast that stood upon the floor.

He exhaled, staring deep into the clouds of dust and debris below him, sheathing his sword. "You fall just as easily as the beasts before you. It will take eons to rebuild the damages you caused, but at least you will not be around to interfere." He raised his hand, a white glow eminated from his palm, "A simple rejection spell should keep the damned spirits at bay until we can handle this.."

Before he could cast the spell, a blood red rusty chain wrapped around his arm, yanking him to the ground. He tried to flap his wings in resistance, but nothing worked. "What is the meaning of this?!" He sat up from the floor, trying to get the chain off his arm, before he could react, his arm was ripped off with the chain.

Lucium: The floor of the pull blew away the remaining dust. "You don't even come close to the legends! The great Archangel Michael, the Banisher of Sin, and yet you crumble like fragile paper!" He grabbed the angel by his chest piece, his claws stabbing into his body before throwing him back like trash, "How utterly pathetic! Your supposed might is a joke, a flimsy facade barely held together! Where is your glory? Where is your power? All I see is weakness beneath the weight of your delusions!"

Michael: He stumbled, but eventually gathered himself and stood strong, "You will pay for that demon!" He reached for his sword, grabbing the hilt. As he pulled it out, he noticed that the blade itself was suddenly constructed of piles of flesh. He jolted back, dropping the maggot-infested sword to the ground.

Lucium: "What's wrong? SCARED?!" He laughed maniacally, slicing Michael's other arm off, thrusting his claws into his wounds, and lifting him into the air. "I have to thank you for this interaction, although it was uneventful and rather boring. There is something you taught me in the process."

Michael: He coughed up his blood, spitting some of it onto Lucium's face in disgust, "And...what might that be?" He could feel his body melting as the energy Lucium was giving off was pulsing.

Lucium: "You've revealed your twisted domain, haven't you? A family of your own, like a mad jigsaw puzzle! But they're blind, so blind! They need to learn... no, they MUST learn what happens when one dares to meddle with the cosmic tapestry of creation!" He laughed, ripping his fingers from his wounds and tossing down the disintegrating archangel to the floor, staring up at the rift Michael opened earlier.

Michael: "If you dare, lay a hand on my family...I will..." Before he could fully finish his sentence, his body was completely vaporized into nothing.

Lucium: "It's a shame. You seemed like a fun toy. Perhaps I used a bit too much power with you. Anyway." He made his way up to the rift, ready to enter the realm of Heaven.

Jophiel: The Archangel Jophiel stood ready at the gate of Heaven, awaiting her brother's return. She tapped her fingers against her rose-gold chestplate, wondering why she couldn't sense Michael's energy anymore, "Where are you, brother?..."

Uriel: He approached his sister, "Pray tell, dear Sister Jophiel, is all well with thee? Thou hast lingered here, fidgeting, for quite a while." He appeared younger than the version everybody knows, with smaller wings and a book of some unknown knowledge rather than a sword.

Jophiel: "Brother Uriel, everything I believe is fine, it has just been some time since Michael left. I grew worried about what might've happened." She turned back to face the gateway into Hell.

Gabriel: He landed next to the two, attempting to reassure Jophiel, "He is Michael, he defeated Satan the first time, I doubt he would cause much trouble another time. He will return any moment now, and we can get things back into proper order."

Uriel: "Verily, Sister Jophiel, Michael standeth as a legendary champion, an undefeated warrior against the wickedness of Satan's vile sin. We have naught to fear..." He could feel a splash of a strange liquid on himself as he blinked under his hood. What he witnessed at that time was horrific. He saw his siblings cut in half before him, their archangel blood leaking onto the soft grass floor. The sky changed from a warm, graceful white and gold to a wrathful blood red.

He shook in fear, dropping his book to the floor, before he could even let out a scream to mourn his fallen siblings, his eyes followed a trail of blood to the holy city behind him. Angels, Archangels, and pure spirits alike lay slaughtered on the ground, buildings of sanctuary now in ruin and flame. His eyes tracked a strange figure standing next to the Heavenly Spirit Tower. "Wait- no, stay away from the tower!" Before he could take a step towards them, the tower was sliced down, crumbling into bits and pieces.

Lucium: "Oh? I didn't think you had the spine to even look in my direction, but I suppose we can all be wrong." He walked toward Uriel, causing him to cower down to the ground and quickly grab Jophiel's spear. "Oh, please." He walked straight through the spear, the tip pointing out through his back, "If the rest of your worthless siblings couldn't do anything to me, why do you think you could? Especially since you are the most pathetic of the bunch, rejecting your warrior blood and becoming a hope deliverer? The very thought grows distasteful in my mind."

Uriel: "What madness drives thee to this course?! What dost thou seek to gain?!" His grip tightened around the spear handle, but Lucium ripped it away from his grasp.

Lucium: "Why? Because you all disgust me, I wish to eliminate free will across all that is. Killing all those who might stand in my way is for pure enjoyment~."

Uriel: "But why would you spare me then, if you could do all of this in such an instant-"

Lucium: He chuckled, clawing at his face as he laughed hysterically, "There must be a mark left of what was. You will serve as the perfect vessel for my experiments. Once I perfect my plague, I will spread it across all of reality, infecting all those with free will, stripping them of it so only mine shall remain! The free virus will be eradicated!" As he tried to reach for Uriel, his body froze, golden chains of stardust wrapped around his arms. "What- XERION!"

Xerion: "I expected more out of you, Lucium. I thought that seeing the free spirits would help change your mind. But I can see that my father was right, you are beyond redemption." He held out his hand, energy surging into Lucium's body, channeling at his large red eye.

Lucium: "You are going to pay for your intervention, Xerion, mark my words, I shall crawl out from my grave and enact my plan on you first! I will destroy everything you love!" The skin covering his mouth ripped open as he let out a monstrous roar. A red shard was ripped from his eye, and he fell silent. It flew through a small rift in reality, never to be seen again. His body was dragged into a different rift by the chains that bound him.

Xerion: "Separated into two halves...perhaps one day, when you learn, I can reunite you, but maybe that day will never come." He clapped his two hands together, the rifts shutting. He looked down at Uriel, saying nothing before clapping his hands together, opening a vortex. It began to suck all of the corpses and artifacts of the previous angels out of the broken realm, Uriel being pulled back as well.

Uriel: "WAIT! This be my home; thou canst not rob me of all I hold dear!" He tried grabbing onto something, but he was forced out of his realm.

Xerion: As the vortex closed, he spoke out softly, "One day, all that you have will become much more the day you return."

Uriel: He crash landed into an open meadow on Earth, sitting up immediately, he looked around at his fallen sibling's gear, seeing that that's all that remained of their memory. His body shook with anger and sorrow, "WHY, WHY MUST IT BE ME THAT REMAINS! IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN THEM!"

Radna: He walked up to Uriel, "We cannot pick and choose what fate places upon us; all we can do is overcome it and better our fates." He extended his hand toward Uriel, "I have been expecting you, Brother Uriel."

Uriel: He looked up at the mysterious figure, confused as they sensed both positive and negative energy from them, but after such grief, he willingly accepted any help he could get, taking his hand to stand. "And who may you be?"

Radna: "Radna, and I may be your last hope to avenge your fallen angels, we have a lot of work to do."
