Zane firmly held my hand as we walked out of the pack gates, and three guardians respectfully nodded their heads in our direction. I had to remind myself that Zane had officially declared me as his Luna, so these moments would become more frequent, whether I liked it or not.
A pleasant sensation coursed through my body at the touch of his hand, which felt strong and warm. Zane walked slowly, being considerate of my healing legs, as he should anyways. We had returned to my quarters to retrieve a long, flowing skirt that could conceal the bandages and stains and Zane had waited outside as I changed.
Now, we were following a pathway that led to a village I could see in the distance. There was an unspoken tension between Zane and me, and the silence became increasingly awkward.
"Should we really be going there right now? We could be attacked at any moment," I finally broke the silence, voicing my concerns. Zane pursed his lips, deep in thought about how to respond to my question.
