Chapter 159 - chapter 158

Blood was everywhere as Hidan drew the seal at her feet once more that night, relishing every second of his ritual as he drove stakes through her legs or stabbed her stomach repeatedly, letting the blood run down his scythe. "You're a tough rabbit..." the silver-haired, now dark-skinned man said with a mocking smile, looking with amusement at a dying Mirko, who was still standing there.

"This... is... nothing," growled the silver-haired woman, whose legs were covered in deep stab wounds, with a large wound in her stomach and crimson blood that kept flowing from her mouth, making it difficult for her to speak. But with a determined look, she refused to fall at the feet of her enemy.

"Say what you want, I know a dead body," Hidan shrugged, walking out of the circle. Instantly, the curse broke, returning him to normal. "Hmmm?" Hearing footsteps, he turned to see that his companion had returned.

"Are you finished?" asked Kakuzu, who was dragging Mt. Lady's battered body. She was barely breathing and just as badly injured as Mirko, who finally fell to her knees, pale from blood loss.

"Why did you bring that giant bitch?" Ignoring his companion's question, the silver-haired man questioned why he had brought that woman with him.

"I know people who will be interested in a skill like hers. The village hidden among the grass will pay well for a woman who can give them descendants with such a particular skill," said the masked man calmly as he lifted Yu's body and placed it on his shoulder.

"Offspring?" The two 'villains' saw that Mirko was still awake, with a look of frustration in her eyes because of what she had heard. "You..." Slowly, tears formed in the eyes of the white-haired woman, who felt rage, frustration, and anger. "You are..." Looking at the two with hatred, she could only stand up to face them. "You are monsters!" she shouted with all the strength and rage she could muster.

From a distance, the students looked at each other, thinking about what to do. "We have to help them," Momo finally said, expressing what several had thought but no one dared to say.

"You're crazy! The pro heroes couldn't beat them! What makes you think we can?!" Mineta shouted in panic, wishing he had never entered UA and had to face these monsters.

"I won't stand idly by! We can't leave them behind!" The young black-haired girl looked at her classmates, both from Class A and B. "I know you're scared! I am too! But I won't let this continue! Even if I have to go alone, I'm going to help!" Just as the black-haired girl was about to go help Mirko, a firm hand grabbed her wrist.

"You won't." A somber Mandalay pushed Momo back toward her classmates. The pro hero carried Aizawa on her back, who was only wearing scraps of clothing to staunch the bleeding from his wounds. "They're giving their lives so you can run away... don't waste their sacrifices on your desire to be heroes..." Giving Mirko one last look, the Pussycat's leader couldn't help but shed a few tears of frustration. "We have to go..." Walking among the students, she pushed them to follow her.

"But-or…" Momo tried to convince the pro hero, but she walked past her with her head down. Looking into the distance, the black-haired girl saw that the lightning that had previously illuminated the sky had already disappeared. "Naruto…" The image of the shinobi came to her mind. Had he also been ambushed by people like those who attacked them? Had he been defeated? "Naruto… Where are you?" Feeling the sting of tears in her eyes, Momo had to watch as the two villains were about to attack Mirko, surely to deliver the final blow that would end her life.

Was this the reality of the world?

Just witnessing the 'bad guys' killing the 'good guys,' having to feel the despair of knowing that death was near one of your colleagues, friends, or acquaintances, and not being able to do anything at all.

"I guess it's time for goodnight," Hidan said, scythe in hand. He smiled at Mirko's gaunt state, her gaze now downcast and empty. "Oh?" Smiling even wider, the silver-haired man heard footsteps and saw the dark-haired brat approach the fallen heroine. "Look, Kakuzu! It seems the brat has some courage! A heroine has arrived!" he shouted mockingly as the girl stood before him.

"I won't let you hurt her!" Using her Quirk, Yaoyorozu created a bo staff and took a defensive position, placing herself between Hidan and Mirko.

"Girl, I think you're not looking around you. We won!" Slamming his scythe against the ground, the silver-haired man pointed it around him: at the bodies of Tiger and Vlad King, and at the students who were tending to the fragile Ryukyu, Aizawa, and Radboll. "Welcome to the real world! Where no matter how much courage you possess, you'll only end up as a corpse on a battlefield! Your death will be like everyone else's! Insignificant and meaningless!" With a smug smile, Hidan pointed his weapon at Yaoyorozu. "Once I'm done with the rabbit woman... you're next," was the threat, punctuated by a wide, disturbing grin.

"I won't let you do it!"

"Then die first, you little bitch!" joked Hidan, who had had enough of this girl. Firmly gripping his weapon, he raised it and pointed it at the teenager.

"Will I die?" was Momo's first thought. Time seemed to have stopped, her body paralyzed. She could only watch as the assassin approached to end her life. "I will protect you with my life..." Without knowing why, Naruto's voice echoed in her mind, bringing back memories of their first conversation. "Where are you? Why did you lie to us?" she asked herself. She was afraid, terrified. She hadn't thought that at her young age of 15, it would all end. "Naruto..." Her mind played tricks on her, thinking of that name. Just saying it gave her security, hope, and a feeling of protection. "Naruto..." Now only a whisper, she saw Hidan just a few meters away. Closing her eyes and clutching her bo staff, she only wished he were there to help her, as he had promised. "NARUTO!" she screamed with all her might, closing her eyes tightly.

A loud crash echoed through the air, and the ground shook as a massive lightning bolt struck nearby. This caused Hidan to stop and retreat, swept back by a powerful gust of wind that dragged him to Kakuzu's side. The two Akatsuki members knew who had just arrived. At the point of impact, a silhouette could be seen emerging from the smoke, which gradually dissipated.

Before everyone's eyes, Naruto stood atop XXV's motionless body. Parts of her mask and outfit were missing; the woman was injured and seemingly unconscious. But the shinobi had undergone a transformation that led his acquaintances to believe he was someone else entirely. In the middle of the crater, he stood alone, wounded and somber, enveloped in a red aura—a kind of red vapor that surrounded him and took on an almost animalistic form, with two large ears atop his head and three tails that flapped menacingly.

"..." The shinobi sighed, causing the bubbling aura to dissipate and reveal his true state. His clothing consisted only of a torn and burned shirt and ripped pants with missing pieces. All of this paled in comparison to the cuts and bruises the teenager had, including stab wounds on his arms and stomach that seemed to have no effect on him, as these wounds were disappearing as if by magic, leaving only a trail of blood covering him from head to toe. It was like seeing a person who had just emerged from medieval torture.

"Naruto…" whispered a breathless Momo, who at first felt great relief, shedding a few tears of happiness without even noticing. He had come to help them; that was the first thing she thought. But when she saw the shinobi's eyes and the aura that surrounded him, she could barely recognize him, especially because of those eyes, which had once been bright blue but were now as red as blood, with slit pupils like those of a beast.

Uzumaki Naruto had arrived, but not in the way everyone had expected.
