It was 10 PM at the camp run by the Pussycats, where the pro heroes were simply keeping an eye on the children as they had fun, testing themselves by entering the forest in groups and proving their courage by being scared by their own teammates. Right now, the pro heroes were watching a team made up of Momo, Shiori, and Ibara enter the woods.
"I'm bored," complained Mt. Lady, who was sitting on a log with the other girls, who were just standing there watching the students. "Can I join them?" she asked hopefully as she went in to see if the brats could scare her. She could also see if she could scare Uzumaki when it was her turn to test him.
"How old are you? We're only here for your safety," Mirko growled angrily. She was standing with her arms crossed, tapping her feet constantly on the ground. She felt strange; her instincts were warning her of something. Ever since Uzumaki left to take that call, she'd felt an uncomfortable pain in the back of her neck. Her rabbit instincts were telling her that something was wrong.
"Calm down, let's just leave them for a few more hours, and we'll call them so they can rest," said Pixie-bob, who was just playing with her phone, which was snatched away by her leader. "Hey!"
"Stop playing around," Mandalay said, putting away her friend's phone. She felt uneasy about Kota going back to his hiding place. She just hoped he would come back soon; she didn't like him wandering around alone in the woods at night.
"Tomorrow we'll double the training. The kids are inspired, and it would be foolish not to take advantage of it." Going with the other pro heroes, we see Aizawa having a chat with Ryukyu.
"I understand, it sounds reasonable…" The blonde dragon was still thinking about the conversation they had just a few minutes ago. "He's special… don't you think?" she asked out of nowhere, looking at her dark-haired partner with a bored expression.
"Uzumaki is unlike anyone I've ever seen before. I see things in his eyes that a boy his age shouldn't have..." With a more serious expression, the pro hero crossed his arms to watch the students leave the forest and another group enter. "The first time I saw him, I knew one thing..."
"That?"
"He was the kind of person who had already lost everything, and as a result, he didn't care what might happen to him. For him, the mere act of killing someone meant nothing anymore, because he had done it before... many times." With a sigh, the Eraser Hero lowered his gaze. "I fear to think that since childhood he has been in situations that no one should be in. His training, his way of acting, his emotions, and his actions would define him as the ultimate weapon."
"Oh…" Ryukyu could only feel sadness, horrified at the thought of what that young man was forced to do or endure.
"..." In silence, Mirko could only look at the sky, listening attentively to what the UA teacher was saying.
"Ever since he was at the academy, we investigated him thoroughly and discovered that he's just an orphan, although I doubt those files are real." Shrugging, Aizawa recalled the frustrating task of investigating the shinobi, all that time invested only to find fake files—high-quality files, but fake nonetheless. "The only thing I do know is that this boy has no one. He doesn't have a mother, father, siblings, or even a blood relative in the entire country."
"He's been through a lot..." whispered the blonde dragon sadly, looking up at the starry sky.
"Yes, but I think he's found his place in the world now." All the heroines looked doubtfully at the pro hero, who remained as calm as ever.
"What are you talking about?"
"He's changed. If I compare his looks from the past and present, I can see a big difference... all thanks to the bonds he's formed at the academy." Saying that, he couldn't help but smile. However small his smile was, he could feel relieved that someone like Uzumaki Naruto had found his place in the world and could be happy.
*Sniff sniff*
"Are you crying?" Mirko asked incredulously, seeing an emotional Ryukyu in a sea of tears, with a trembling smile.
"I'm sorry... I'm just so sensitive to these stories!" the blonde squealed, bursting into tears and creating a somewhat awkward atmosphere for the others. Although they felt the emotional weight of Aizawa's words, they wouldn't reach the point of crying like the dragon heroine, who now took a handkerchief that Mt. Lady offered her, drying her tears and calming down. "*ghhhhsss*" More than one of those present shuddered in disgust at the sound of Ryukyu blowing her nose, which had finally calmed down. "Thank you," she said gratefully, wanting to return the handkerchief to the masked blonde.
"Hmmm." Seeing the damp handkerchief, Yu smiled in a forced way. "You can keep it." Once again, the giant heroine had to part with her handkerchief.
"..." Shaking her head, Mirko smiled at the scene. Minutes passed, and everything was normal until, moving her ears, she thought she heard some sounds of crashes and blows. Looking behind her, she saw it in the distance: a great flash of lightning that rose high into the sky, reaching the clouds.
Before he could ask anything, he heard Aizawa's voice. "A signal!" The disheveled man and his coworkers watched in horror as a red flare shone brightly in the middle of the dark night. Looking in the direction it was fired from, the pro heroes became worried when they saw it was where the students should be. To their further concern, a mountain of ice had formed in the middle of the forest.
Before they could do anything, they saw Pixie-bob enveloped in a pink aura that made her levitate and go straight toward the forest, where she was hit by an object carried by a stranger who was accompanied by another person.
The attack had begun.
.... 10 minutes before the attack....
Shiori, Ibara, and Momo were the next to enter the forest for the courage challenge. The three teenagers walked in tense silence without saying a word, although two of them seemed lost in their thoughts. One of them, the young Shiozaki, was debating what to say.
"Mmm... girls, what's up? Anything new?" Without stopping walking, the green-haired girl caught the attention of both teenagers, who just looked at her strangely.
"No," was the curt reply from the half-redhead, who looked coldly at the evangelical teenager, who felt uncomfortable under Todoroki's gaze.
"I'm sorry, Shiozaki-san, but I don't think this is a good place to chat..." Yaoyorozu excused herself, not wanting to hurt the feelings of the student from Class B.
"Why?" The young woman couldn't help but wonder why they couldn't just talk. After all, they were friends... or weren't they?
"Because Naruto-kun isn't here..." That phrase threw the young Christian woman off balance, but without losing her impassive and unchanging expression, Shiori stared at Shiozaki. "The few times we've interacted, Shiozaki-san, it was solely because of Naruto-kun's presence. I was forced to talk to you because he wanted it that way."
"Todoroki..." Even Momo had to look at the half-redhead in surprise. She knew that she was a cold and antisocial person, but she didn't expect her to say those words to the girl from Class B. "I think you're expressing yourself badly..." Trying to be the voice of reason, the black-haired girl wanted to calm the tense atmosphere, but Todoroki's and Shiozaki's gazes clashed in defiance.
"So you don't consider me a friend? Not even a classmate?" the green-haired girl asked resignedly in response to the harsh words of the manipulative teenager of ice and fire.
"No." The fair-skinned girl with two-toned hair frowned, this time looking with a certain suspicion at the green-haired girl. "I consider you a nuisance in my relationship with Naruto-kun, since I've noticed the strong bond you share with him... and that bothers me." With the breeze stirring the teenager's hair, she remained unfazed by Ibara's angry glare. "I don't know how you do it or what makes you so special, but you have something that attracts him, that gives him peace. Maybe he sees something in you that gives him hope..." With a sigh of frustration, the teenager shook her head. "I'll be selfish, but I'll have to ask you to stay away from him." That sentence worried Momo, since she had never seen this side of her companion—dominant? Or perhaps aggressive?
"Why?" the green-haired girl asked defiantly, refusing to be intimidated by the half-redhead.
"Because I love him..."
"..." The two teenage girls who heard Todoroki were shocked by such a declaration, and the fact that she was so serious and determined implied that there was no doubt in her words when revealing her feelings.
"In these months we've been together, I've realized how foolish I've been. When I entered UA, I only thought about being the best, only using my right side, and one day rubbing it in my bastard father's face that I was strong without needing to use his Quirk... but..." She hesitated for a moment, remembering the first time she saw Uzumaki enter through the doors of Class A. "The first time I saw him, I thought he was just a bastard who was strong, very strong, with a heart of stone who wouldn't hesitate to crush anyone who got in his way. However, the weeks passed, and when the Sports Festival arrived... I met the real Uzumaki Naruto."
"..." Ibara just stood there, listening to what Todoroki was saying, not knowing what to say or do.
"I was only hostile towards him, thinking only of overcoming and defeating him. I remember the anger I felt towards him, but I also remember when he... offered me something valuable..."
"You wouldn't understand..."
