Every pore on her body seemed to open in comfort, a pleasant sensation of complete relaxation washing over her.
On the wooden tray floating on the water's surface, there was a pot of plum wine.
Lucifer poured Sophie a glass. "Cecilia, let's toast to our reunion. Cheers."
Sophie picked up the wine glass, took a sip, then set it down.
She leaned against the wall of the hot spring bath. "When I woke up, I was in an asylum. I was tied to a small bed, less than a meter wide. There was a woman in a white lab coat who would come and inject me with a sedative every day. I knew I wasn't crazy. I was different from the madmen who screamed and raved day in and day out. I fought back. I tried to escape. But it was all to no avail."
Lucifer's eyes filled with heartache. He couldn't imagine how much pain she must have endured during the year he hadn't been by her side.
