A pungent, herbal scent hung heavy in the air of the apothecary shop as Kai Syaoran stepped inside. Behind the counter, a gaunt-looking man stirred a potion, his back to the door. The man stopped and looked up, his brow furrowed with displeasure at the interruption. Though his shop was open, he rarely saw customers, and the silence of the place had become his norm. He no longer expected anyone to come in.
"Excuse the interruption," Kai Syaoran said, placating the man. He had come here seeking a calm, simple life, and making an enemy of the first person he spoke to was not part of his plan.
