Those words made all the grievances and unwillingness buried in Jane Sampson's heart over the past ten years instantly disappear into thin air.
Sometimes, a single "I'm sorry" really can conquer everything.
"Haven't had a proper rest for several days. How about sleeping for a while now?" James Black gently touched Jane Sampson's back of the head. "Have a sleep, and later join Grandma for a good dinner."
"Mm, I'll sleep for a bit, then personally cook dinner for Grandma. The nanny's cooking doesn't whet her appetite, so she ends up not eating. But something I make with my own hands—Grandma will at least eat a little because she appreciates my effort." Jane Sampson's face rubbed against James Black's chest briefly before she lifted her head, stood on tiptoes, and kissed him lightly.
"Thank you for staying by my side these few days," she said, and then she held onto James Black's arm and lay down on the bed.
That sudden kiss softened James Black's heart entirely.
