Aldana Candi stroked the round head of the little kitten and said softly: "Its mother died. It looks less than a month old. If it's left to wander, it might not live long."
She saw the injured leg on the mother cat and guessed it was probably an infection that caused its death.
Philip Shaw extended a hand toward her, "Give it to me."
His tone was somewhat gloomy.
Aldana Candi pursed her lips, hugged the kitten to her chest: "I want to keep it."
The kitten took her over an hour to coax to her side. Now, it was very dependent on her, seemingly sensing the increasingly cold atmosphere around, mewing softly and burrowing back into Aldana Candi's arms.
Philip Shaw looked at the woman with her eyes lowered and gentle face but with a touch of stubbornness. Even a cat understood the atmosphere, yet she was so stubborn, not even as perceptive as a cat.
