The daughter was not in the living room. Sienna Johnson wanted to look for Curly but was blocked at the door by Adrian Desmond, whose gaze was fixed on her injured lips, causing Sienna to blush slightly.
"I'm going to find Curly!" Sienna repeated her intention.
"What happened to your lip?"
"I accidentally bit it." Sienna tried to push him aside, but he didn't budge, his unsettling gaze making her heart flutter.
"Who bit it?"
Sienna was too embarrassed to admit that Kenneth had bitten her, so she lied, "I bit it by accident."
"You?" Adrian held her chin and examined her wound closely. "You bit it this deeply. How did you manage that?"
"Where's Curly?" Sienna brushed off his hand, dodging the sensitive topic, and turned slightly to walk further into the room.
This time, Adrian didn't stop her. But when the door behind her closed, Sienna felt a surge of unease.
