Chapter 1000 - Chapter 1000: Steve’s speech

Elsewhere-

In the broadcast room, a few operators were casually chatting.

"I've been parking in his spot for two months now, but it's his space."

"Where'd he go?"

"Probably Afghanistan."

"He could've told us beforehand."

"He couldn't. DT-6. Landing route's full."

Suddenly, the earpieces of the three operators emitted a piercing noise. Startled, they removed them, muttering, "Must be an issue with the antenna."

One of them stood up and said, "I'll go check."

As he swiped his card to open the door, he was greeted by three figures—Sam, Commander Hill, and Captain America, with the latter two pointing guns at him.

Steve stepped forward and calmly said, "Excuse us."

Terrified, the staff member raised his hands and stepped aside.

Soon, Steve and his team had taken over the broadcast room.

Meanwhile, Natasha had arrived at the Triskelion. She had already sent the operation codename "Snake Extinction" to Namikaze Minato's number and received confirmation in return.

After seeing the response, Natasha, disguised as the U.S. representative, confidently entered the building.

The mission was looking solid.

Charles Doyle, upon receiving the message, brought Selene to the spatial layer above the Triskelion.

Using mirror space, Charles displayed real-time projections of the critical locations within the Triskelion building.

Selene, observing the scenes, asked, "Boss, whose memories should I retrieve later?"

Charles pointed at Alexander Pierce, who was speaking in the conference room, and said, "See him? Alexander Pierce. Later, I need you to extract his memories by drinking his blood."

"Of course, just drink his blood. Don't turn him into one of us."

Selene nodded and asked, "Boss, are you sure this guy isn't one of those ancient immortals with a lifespan of thousands of years?"

If Pierce had an extended lifespan, like Odin or members of the Eternals, absorbing such vast memories could overwhelm Selene and cause memory disarray.

Though her own life spanned several centuries, she wouldn't be able to handle memories of millennia flowing into her.

Charles shook his head, "He's just an ordinary human. Extract his memories without worry—I need every secret he holds."

Hearing that he was a regular human, a sly smile spread across Selene's lips, "Consider it done!"

Meanwhile, Pierce had led the Security Council members to the top-floor conference room. As they sipped champagne, Pierce began his speech:

"I know this journey has been rough, and some of you may have disliked me for a long time."

He turned to the large screen behind him and continued, "But we're finally here together, and the whole world will be grateful."

"Cheers!"

Pierce raised his champagne glass, and the five council members followed suit.

At that moment, a broadcast echoed throughout the entire Triskelion, including Pierce's conference room.

"Attention, all S.H.I.E.L.D. agents. This is Steve Rogers."

"You've heard a lot about me recently, and some of you were even ordered to hunt me down. But I believe you deserve to hear the truth."

"S.H.I.E.L.D. is not what we thought it was. It has been infiltrated by Hydra, and its leader is Alexander Pierce."

"Both the strike teams and Project Insight have been compromised."

The five Security Council members turned sharply to face Pierce, their expressions a mixture of shock and suspicion.

Steve's voice continued through the broadcast, "I don't know how deep this corruption runs, but Hydra is here. They might even be standing right next to you."

With Steve's words, S.H.I.E.L.D. agents in the control rooms and command centers began eyeing their colleagues warily.

Pierce, maintaining his composure, quickly pulled out his phone and issued a command.

The directive activated a unique signal across all communication platforms, awakening every Hydra operative under Pierce's control, no matter their location. These agents were now triggered to emerge from the shadows and take action.

Steve's voice persisted over the airwaves, "They almost succeeded in gaining absolute control."

"The assassination of Nick Fury was just the beginning."

"If those helicarriers launch today, Hydra will gain the power to kill anyone who stands in their way."

"Unless we stop them."

"I know it won't be easy, but the price of freedom has always been high."

"I'm willing to pay that price, even if I have to do it alone. I'll fight to the end."

"But I believe I'm not alone."

As Steve's stirring speech reached its conclusion, Hydra agents within the Triskelion wasted no time executing their plans. They divided into three teams:

The first, composed primarily of enhanced soldiers, headed straight for the helicarriers. They quickly gunned down the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents guarding the area and seized control.

The second team, led by Brock Rumlow, moved towards the operations command center.

The third team, tasked with supporting Alexander Pierce, rushed to the top-floor conference room.

As Steve finished his speech, Sam quipped from behind him, "Was that rehearsed, or did you just wing it?"

Steve's words had clearly been incredibly compelling and motivational.
