Chapter 357 - Small confrontation

Oak wasn't joking about having other topics to talk about and the man was a natural conversationalist too as the moment I showed even the slightest sign of disinterest he swapped topics without any issue at all. Agricultural, energy research, abilities, the man had a seemingly endless stash of knowledge to talk about as we walked. At some point though Surge must have gotten a report that we were seen together as he showed up as I was walking out of the furniture shop. Seeing him standing there I had to admit for most he probably cut an intimidating figure with his appearance.-

The man was easily six two or three with short military cut blonde hair and a stern face that looked like it had never seen the presence of a smile at all. His body was sculpted with firm muscles barely hidden under his tight green shirt and camo pants. "I expected the lack of respect for territory from the savage saint, but you I had thought better of Professor." Surge said emphasizing my nickname with a disdainful tone. Oak had the decency to look slightly apologetic but I flat out scoffed at the blatant attempt at trying to pick a fight.-

His plan couldn't be more obvious knowing what I did about him. He wanted me out of his city and the easiest way to accomplish that was for me to break the rule about not battling in the city. Oak may be of the variety that seeks peaceful resolutions to problems like this but I had no such inclinations. "Oh i just arrived in the city yesterday and have been rather busy renovating my new property, the insignificant details like that must have gotten lost in all of it." I said with a pointed emphasis on the word insignificant while staring right at him.-

Surge seemed to bristle at the implication and I mentally smirked 'Got him.' I thought as his fist clenched like he was about to throw a punch. But clearly his military experience kicked in as he breathed out deeply before unclenching his fist. "Fine, you have a pass on that front but the fact you've gone and purchased a property in my city without consulting me first is still a problem." he said firmly. I scoffed "You may be the gym leader of this cities gym but the city is not owned by you."-

"Anyone is free to purchase property here so long as they go through the proper channels, which I did. The only "mistake" I made was a social one and we all know I care little for such things. You can either continue trying to blow this out of proportion and make a fool of yourself or you can suck it the fuck up and seethe in silence. Well you could also try and turn to violence but that DEFINITELY won't turn out good for you, no pokemon needed." I said with a confident smirk before walking past him.-

Oak apologized to Surge for his own social blunder but by now Surge was in such a poor mood he brushed it off. It was amusing to see the guy swallow all of his anger since he knew I was right and a fight between us would end VERY poorly for him even without pokemon. Legally he couldn't do shit to me as I wasn't breaking any laws even with the pixie out and floating nearby watching everything curiously. The rule about pokemon out in cities and towns specifically stated they couldn't be out if they were above a certain size or had particularly violent temperaments that weren't under control.-

The Celebi didn't qualify on either front as it was only slightly bigger than an infant child and had a temperament that was outgoing and curious. Even with how aggressive Surge was the little pixie was downright cheerful just meeting him. It was almost painful how innocent the thing was and I wasn't planning to change this actively. I was soon to become a god and that meant there was no reason why I couldn't preserve this innocence. -

From that furniture store I had bought a few of the essentials to furnish my new property. Couches, beds, cabinets, a refrigerator, stove and a few minor decorative items that Oak picked out since "it would be too dull otherwise". By warping space a bit I had stored all of this away in a single one of my pockets much to the confusion of Oak and the seller who couldn't figure out how I got it all to fit. Oak seemed to think i had miniaturized backpack tech even further an put it on a short pocket of all things but I didn't bother correcting him before we left the store.-

Once we got back to my new property I told the little pixie to go play in the plants while I got to work furnishing my new property. "I must admit I was skeptical about this unusual style of home but now that it's been furnished I can see the appeal, especially for a rock or ground type trainer. The cavernous feel of the place is unusual but not uncomfortable and clearly appreciated by pokemon of the rock and ground typing from what I can see of your Tyranitar and that Garchomp." Oak said with a smile and a scientific nod of understanding after I finished putting everything in place.-

"I designed the place to be this way so my pokemon and I weren't constantly being gawked at. Additionally a cave looking entrance doesn't clash with the natural garden look of the rest of the property. Not that I intend to make this place my permanent home to begin with." I said with a shrug. "Oh? So you have somewhere else in mind for that then?" Oak asked curiously. "Orre, I liked the place despite how rough around the edges it was. It also helps that I know that no other god has a claim there so it's free territory." I said honestly.-

"Rather isolated though isn't it?" he asked with a frown. I nod "A bit yes but not nearly as much as it used to be now that Devon's set up shop there and a professor came to the region. It's not as up to date or connected as the rest of the world but it's not almost entirely isolated like before either." I said calmly.
