Miracle Pov
The "escape" — if I can even call it that — was messy, and way too close for comfort. After that crazy devil blew himself up, I started scavenging what was left of the facility. The place was a hellscape, much bigger than I ever realized from inside a cell and the few rooms I sent to for the experiments. Four followed me, carrying an unconscious Six on her back like he weighed nothing.
However the scene of the wreckage was a really fucked up.
Bodies of both children and adults were scattered everywhere. Burnt, crushed, torn apart. Limbs missing. Flesh melted into ash and concrete. My stomach twisted more than once, and my legs felt like jelly, but I forced myself to move.
I had to.
I used my telekinesis to shift debris, lift corpses, and search through pockets. Horrible work, but necessary. I was hoping to find literally anything from a working phone, a map, a flashlight, hell, even snacks.
Four watched quietly for a while before stepping closer.
"Want… help?"Her voice was soft, unsure.
I swallowed the nausea and nodded telling what to find. She didn't hesitate after that and started using her powers to help the supply search.
After about thirty minutes, we gathered a small pile of salvage that hadn't been destroyed by the explosion. Most of it came from areas far enough from ground zero that the flame and blast didn't liquefy everything.
Our finds included: Non damaged canned food (labeled beans, peaches, something labeled and beef stew), some medical kits, a bundle of blankets some few clothes for the experiments which would fit us, I found some 4 daggers with a some weird symbols on it, finally they were two phones which weren't completely smashed black berry curve and Nokia N82.
Briefly switching them on I sighed in relief seeing they were both working but half battery. Though the dates were a bit off, the guard said it was 2008 but the phones were showing 2009, so either both of them were set at the wrong year or the guard was so scared he mixed up the years. But that didn't matter now.
I wrapped everything in torn fabric and lifted the bundles into the air telekinetically.
"Alright," I sighed, exhausted. "That should be enough."
"Go now?" Four asked, her big green eyes hopeful and I nodded.
Tinashe's voice began to echo in my mind.
'Are you sure you don't scavenge a bit more? You might find something more useful in the scraps?' she asked.
'Nah I think this is enough. Besides there is a chance that devil guy is a part of a big terrorist organization so some alias might show up. Plus I'm getting sick of looking at all this.'I solemnly looked at the dead bodies of the children feeling guilty but moved forward.
3 hours later
"And done." I finished applying some bandages on Four. It wasn't great work but I have put bandages on my previous life before but it was also a good thing we weren't that hurt. Which is a crazy thing to say when I think about it, as we just survived a building destroying explosion
"Thank… you." She began poking the bandage in curiosity. She didn't seem that winded at the long walk to put a good amount of distance from the destroyed facility.
I simply nodded and turned to Six who was laying on the ground still out cold. I put a blanket on him to at least make him more conformable but since he is like part dragon I don't think he would be cold or it won't affect him much.
Four stood beside a tree, touching the bark with both hands, eyes shining with awe. Pure happiness. Nostalgia. It hit me how long she'd and all of us been locked away. It was nice to breathe some proper fresh air again after so long, along with the moon and stars in the clear night sky.
That guard said that we were somewhere in the US. Now as a guy from a small town of Malawi that would have been an exciting being but we were god knows we were in the middle of nowhere. Not to mention the circumstances which led me here were not the best.
My breath hitched as flashes of all the experiments from the needles, blood, screaming all ripped through my head. My fist clenched, and the ground cracked beneath my fingers.
"Miracle," Tinashe whispered gently. "Listen to my voice… breathe, my wielder."
I exhaled shakily.
Around us, a few trees creaked and snapped — I had crushed them with my telekinesis without realizing.
'My bad."
Four slowly approached. "I did something bad? You… angry?"
I shock my head "Nah don't worry you didn't do anything. I just lost control a bit.Nothing to do with you." She relaxed after my answer.
"For you." she said suddenly, offering me a fruit. "Thank you… for helping me run away. It's safe now."
I looked at the fruit in a little confusion wondering where she got it but turned to the tree she was touching earlier and noticed some fruit had bloomed.
"Thanks a lot." And began eating the fruit.
"At least you don't have to worry about food with her around." chuckled Tinashe. "Though I wonder what nature being they forced on the poor girl. She has a high affinity nature and it's a miracle she survived the procedure.''
'It could be a dryad or the Khaos brigade somehow managed to get something from a nature deity.' I guessed the latter wouldn't be a surprise since I think Loki was a part of them so maybe they had some other deities in the mix.
"RAAAGGHH!!!"
Six shot up with a roar and began breathing heavy gripping the blanket. He turned to us with his red eyes glowing and glaring fiercely at us.
"WHERE IS HE!" He yelled.
"Um what?"
"WHERE IS THE DEVIL!" he shouted again, voice cracking with pure hatred.
"Look, take it e…" I stopped talking as he shot towards us at impressive speeds making me put a shield up covering Four and me. "WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING!"
"WHERE IS HE!" He punched the barrier over and over, flames flaring hotter with each strike, my shield won't long.
"What... Do we do?" Four asked worriedly tugged my sleeve.
"'Tsh' Use your powers to get him away from us!" I told her and she quickly made large roots come out of the ground binding him to the ground.
Sighing in relief I let my shield down, just a couple of more hits it would have been down. My eyes widened wh.
"RAAGHH!!"
He dashed for us again and he seemed to have gotten faster but I had enough of this nonsense and used my psychokinesis to make a blast smacking his face sending crushing through five trees.
I quickly followed after him, striking his head, increasing the gravity around him x3 keeping on the ground, but he stubbornly started getting up.
"Iwe that's enough!" I slapped his cheeks making the sound echo and sending it to the ground again, but stared there. "Wamva (You hear me)? Try that stupid shit again I won't hesitate to straighten you out the hard way so chill out before you make things worse yourself!"
"Wow Miracle you really are a true African." Tinashe mused.
'Hey I didn't enjoy doing that.' I rubbed my hand as the guy had some tough skin but then again he is like part dragon.
"Mmh. That's exactly what every African says after delivering discipline." She teased.
"I don't know much about dragons but I do know they can be stubborn so being a little rough to get the boy to listen is the best move you could have done in this situation."
Looking at my hand I began getting flashbacks on when my mom would beat my ass whenever I did something dumb or got bad grades.
'By the way what dragon do you think spliced his DNA with?' I changed the subject.
"I don't know. Like I said I don't know much about the dragon species but there was something different about his fire though I can't really make it up."
"...Hurt?" Four asked me.
"I'm fine." I glanced at Six and he wasn't angry anymore but whimpering? Did the slap really hurt that bad?
We looked a bit closer and saw he was indeed crying but what was really interesting were his eyes, as they were no longer red but brown. Guess red eyes indicated some rage mood or something.
"Juliet and Mrs. Sandra I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. I wasn't strong enough to protect you!" He yelled while slamming his hands on the ground cracking it.
Four whispered, "What do we do?"
I scratched the back of my head not knowing what to do in this situation either. "Meh, leave him be and let his feelings out. He'll feel a bit when his done"
We both walked over to the camp fire leaving Six to let out his fillings but he joined us by the fire just a few moments later.
"So Six…"
"Don't call me that ever again! My name is James, not six, do you hear me!" His eyes briefly turned red again but I shot a small telekinetic blast to his chest knocking to the ground.
"My friend, are you mad or you're trying to be mad!" I threatened and he got up clutching his chest but his eyes were back to brown. "Now sit your ass down and behave."
He grumbled but still obeyed.
"Anyway James. My name is Miracle and this… Huh?" The girl tugged my shirt with a pout.
"I want a name too. Not 'Experiment Four.' I want a real name."
"What? If you want a name then give yourself a name." But she did like this answer and she began shaking me.
"I WANT A NAME!" She basically started throwing a tantrum .
"Fine, how about Sylvia then?" I suggested. It was the first name which came to my head. I would go with Pamela because she sort of reminds me of poison ivy in a way but nah.
She mouthed it softly. "Sylvia. Sylvia. I love it!" Before I knew it she began hugging me, so I gently floated her a few feet away.
I turned back to James. "As I was saying James was already dead, the coward blew himself up. So now you don't have to worry about him anymore."
"Dead…" He mumbled clutching his fist and stared at the fire with an empty look in his eyes. "He's really dead just like that. I didn't even beat him. I swore to kill him for Ms. Sandra and Juliet even. What should I do now?"
Sylvia hugged her knees. "Yeah… Miracle. What now? Where do we go?"
I looked at the two of them, they were battered, scared, and lost. I don't really know who to deal with this, I don't know how to take care of children, hell I was the youngest sibling in my past life, the closest I came to that was basically babysitting my sister's kid but I had a TV to back me up for that.
And to be honest I had no real plan actually at the moment. I had originally wanted to go to the teleportation room and force a wizard to send me away using one of those papers on the guards which I think brought and sent the guards from their original location. But I could be wrong and they could have sent me to the underworld.
But I guess the best thing is to train and get the hang of flying as soon as possible to make things easier for us.
'Eish Mavuto awa (These problems).' I sighed in frustration.
Pulling out the cracked phone from the supplies, I switched it on and let the dim screen light our faces.
"First, let's just figure out where we are first. Hopefully the GPS works on this thing."
Author note:
Hey everyone for everyone who stayed paitent with me till I could update the story I thank you as it's been almost a year since I touched it (Damn). DxD was the first fanfiction I ever attempted and made me realize I enjoyed writing this stuff so I want to see it though,
I know I've been a lousy author in the past year, not properly updating my stories and having a bad schedule, but I want to try my best to be updating frequently after I'm done with exams.
