Adam was pleasantly surprised by this new side of Isla, which he didn't know existed. She is a woman who is attracted to both men and women.
Her asking him whether she can have relationships that are beyond friendship with other girls was definitely something he didn't expect, but it's a welcome one.
Adam is not concerned if his girls are engaging with other girls, because women in general pose no threat to him.
You might say that he is being arrogant, but he is not. He is physically superior to everyone, whether it is a man or a woman, so even other men don't pose a threat to him.
But at the end of the day, it's just him being a man. Women are okay because he is sexually attracted to them; men are not.
This revelation also allows Adam to figure out the answer to something he has been curious about.
