The mahjong machine behind Xu Ping clattered loudly, and the smoke-filled room had four people, including Xu Ping.
Each of them was over 50 years old, three women and one man, and the man never let go of his cigarette.
The man complained, "I told you, why eat pizza in the middle of the night? Just eat something simple, pizza is so expensive."
The speaker was Xu Ping's new boyfriend, Lu Jun, who was a security guard at a large supermarket.
Xu Ping glared at Lu Jun and pushed open the door a bit.
Partly to wait for the pizza delivery so she could let them in, and partly to let some smoke out; it was just too suffocating.
Xu Ping returned to the mahjong table and sat down, shuffling tiles as she said, "It's just a pizza, it's not like I can't afford it. If I want to eat it, I'll just have it delivered."
