Orion watched on as a wooden pyre was constructed in the centre of the cobblestone pathway.It was right outside the court house where the trial had taken place.Orion reached the conclusion that the result of the trial wasn't very favourable for Harkon.
Orion was soon proven right when Harkon was dragged out of the court house by the two guards.The nobles and Varimathras also came out of the court house as they got to their spot to watch Harkon burn to death.
There was a resounding cheer as people watched Harkon get tied to the wooden pyre.Orion himself had to force himself to cheer as he didn't find someone being tied down and then being burned alive to be very entertaining.He honestly felt a bit bad for Harkon but he was at the wrong place at the wrong time.
Varimathras who was possessing the body of Valtan Devlon was cheered on as he carried a burning torch to the wooden pyre that Harkon was tied to.Harkon's voice pleaded the possessed judge so he wouldn't get burned alive but Varimathras simply smiled and threw the torch to the base of the pyre.
The massive crowd cheered in excitement as the pyre was slowly being set ablaze.Harkons pleading transformed into pained screams as the inferno consumed him.The mobs morale seemed to feed on these screams as their cheers resounded even further within Ring City.Even the nobles who usually wouldn't want anything to do with the commoners were cheering.
It only took tens of seconds for the pained screaming to eventually die down.Harkon had died a painful death and everyone was pleased to see what they thought was justice taking place.In reality an innocent person had been burned alive because he was caught unawares in a bad situation.Harkon would go down in history as an evil monster and dark mage.Orion was the only one who knew this but he didn't tell anyone and never would tell anyone.
Orion and his family eventually went home after looking on at Harkons burned corpse.When they arrived at their home they found a horse drawn carriage and a mage waiting outside the house.When the mage saw Orion he expressed his displeasure.
"Where have you been all this time?.Don't tell me you were at the trial?.Anyways where is the captured mutant goblin?.If you failed then I'll have to inform the archmage about your incompetence."The mage bombarded Orion with questions and Orions family entered the house after seeing that Orion was preoccupied.
"I've been at the trial for most of the day but I do have the goblin its in the basement of my house."Orion then went inside his home and down to the basement.There was the enchanted net with the pure goblin still inside it.Orion picked it up and put the net over his shoulder.He then returned to the mage who had an interested expression on his face.
"So you did manage to capture a mutant goblin.Its quite the interesting specimen.Why is it dressed like a chef?.A pity you didn't capture a few more specimens.I do hope you have some dead mutant goblins so we can do an autopsy."The mage confirmed that the mutant goblin was genuine then allowed Orion to enter the horse drawn carriage.
"Don't worry I have a number of mutated goblin corpses for you to do an autopsy on."Orion replied to one of the mages questions.
"You know your a lucky man to possess such an incredible body.Its allowed you to become close to the archmage and his even given you the opportunity to learn magic from him as long as you do a bit of work.Most commoners never get such opportunities for their entire lives.You must make sure you make the most of these opportunities."The mage said as he was almost envious of Orion.
What the mage said was true only the most skilled and talented of people could learn from a royal guard captain or archmage.Even then the opportunity was only given to royals and nobility while commoner could only get the opportunity if they were truly extraordinary.
"Oh I will make the most of these opportunities.I'll make sure of it."Orion promised himself he wouldn't screw himself over by missing out on any opportunities to gain personal power.
"Oh I forgot to ask in my excitement where is Torrent?."The mage asked curiously as Mandar had told him that Torrent would be overseeing Orion.
"Oh Torrent died to a group of mutated goblins."Orion revealed the fate of Torrent nonchalantly.
"Are you serious how could he die to mere goblins.He was at the mid class B."The mage was awestruck.
"The goblins are more powerful then you think.They took his belongings as well.I have his remains right here."Orion then took out the decapitated head of Torrent which gave the mage a shock.
"If this is true then I have to get archmage Mandar to advise the other royal guard captains to consider exterminating the goblins.
The carriage took a few hours in order to reach the royal branch mages guild which was in the royal castle.
