"Aeolos, have you received your college admission letter?"
"Not yet," Aeolos replied with his usual gentle smile, sitting in his seat. Though he hadn't received his letter yet, he was confident that with his grades, a university would surely admit him.
"Me neither!" The dragon girl grinned. According to the tradition of previous graduating students, the later you received your letter, the more prestigious the university was.
Of course, there were also those who never received an admission letter, signifying failure in their exams, leaving them with no option but to enter the workforce. However, every high school graduate, regardless of their career choice, would start at a high level compared to ordinary people due to their specialized knowledge.
"Admission letters from Vermeer Elven University are here!" A shout came from outside the classroom, and the once calm and composed students could no longer hold back. They rushed out in excitement. Leading the charge were those with striking appearances, many of whom had some elven blood.
"Let's go take a look," Aeolos suggested with a smile to Eddie, the dragon girl sitting nearby. He was curious to see which university would accept him.
"Our letters will probably take a bit longer," Eddie replied with a grin. Many of the universities in Synapse Subcontinent were funded by external forces, each seeking to align with the world's strongest race or recruit talent for themselves.
These universities often had specific entry requirements. For example, Vermeer Elven University not only demanded excellent grades but also required a certain percentage of elven blood. If a student had a higher elven ancestry, the admission score could even be lowered.
Eddie, on the other hand, was confident she would be accepted into a dragon-affiliated university. There was a high probability that she and Aeolos would attend the same university, becoming classmates once again—or so she believed.
"Let's go take a look! After today, there are some people we may never see again." Aeolos stood up, and the dragon girl followed obediently. Despite Aeolos not responding to her advances, she believed that with persistence, she would eventually succeed.
Ignoring the dragon girl's thoughts, Aeolos stepped out of the classroom and saw seven gryphon knights descending from the sky. These were unique elven sky cavalry, exclusive to their race.
"Only seven university admissions!" Aeolos sighed slightly. Admission into any university was not guaranteed, and the requirements were extremely strict. The acceptance rate was shockingly low.
Many students with elven blood had rushed out, yet only seven would be admitted. The rest would leave disappointed, ending their academic careers and entering the workforce. They would repay the stipends provided by Synapse and then be free to choose their path.
Aeolos didn't return to the classroom but stood atop the building, observing the lively scene below. The messengers delivering admission letters came in all shapes and sizes. Some, like the gryphon knights, were from prestigious universities, while others came in the form of ominous ravens or even small bats descending from the sky.
Though these creatures seemed evil, they had been officially certified by Synapse and posed no threat to citizens. If an uncertified undead, demon, or monster appeared, anyone could kill them without consequence. Conversely, harming certified creatures would result in punishment under the law.
"Roar!" Two loud dragon roars echoed from the sky. In the distance, two gold-scaled wyvern knights appeared, causing the dragon girl Eddie to light up with excitement.
These wyverns, though similar to true dragons with four legs and wings, lacked horns and were much smaller. However, their draconic bloodline was still strong.
"Our letters are here!" Eddie's face flushed with excitement. The arrival of two golden wyvern knights meant two admission letters for a dragon-affiliated university. One was undoubtedly hers, as her father had hinted at it earlier, and the other was surely for Aeolos.
After all, in their high school, no dragonborn was more outstanding than Aeolos.
Eddie knew that during their school-mandated enforcement activities, Aeolos had been repeatedly transported into nearby dungeons by strange forces, enduring numerous trials. Yet each time, he emerged stronger, his draconic bloodline awakening further.
As Eddie fantasized about their shared university life, one of the knights flew off in a different direction, while the other approached Aeolos and Eddie.
"Eddie Yalon, congratulations! You've been accepted into Deplanar Dragonborn University!" The knight on the wyvern handed a golden scroll to Eddie with a smile.
"This…" Eddie awkwardly accepted her admission letter, then glanced at the other knight. "Did he fly in the wrong direction? Shouldn't he be coming here?"
"Do you think we delivered the wrong letter?" The knight's expression turned serious upon hearing Eddie's words.
"Isn't it a mistake?" Eddie watched as the other knight delivered a letter to a seemingly unremarkable boy. Her face filled with frustration and anger.
"That letter should belong to Aeolos!"
"Aeolos?" The knight, about to scold Eddie, paused and glanced at Aeolos. "You're Aeolos, the one who's maintained perfect scores since enrolling?"
"Monster?" Aeolos was startled by the description. "I'm just a regular high school student, not a monster."
"Ha! Only one monster like you exists on the whole continent," the knight scoffed at his modesty.
"Just me?" Aeolos frowned. He remembered that in previous exams, there were always several students tied for first place.
"Of course, just you! You're the only one to score a perfect grade on every exam this year. If you're not a monster, then who is?"
"No one tied with me?" Aeolos felt a sense of discomfort. Normally, there would be at least ten others tied for first.
"No, I helped review the exam results. Only you scored perfectly this year."
"If Aeolos is the top scorer, why didn't your school accept him?" Eddie interjected.
"The teachers wanted to, but our school isn't qualified to enroll him."
"Is there a better dragonborn university?"
"Of course there is!"
At that moment, a sound of shattering filled the air. Above the high school, four precise spatial cracks appeared. Then, with overwhelming draconic might, countless dragon roars echoed across the city.
A path of golden light surged from the spatial rift, extending all the way to Aeolos' feet.
Aeolos looked up and saw an elderly dragonborn standing at the end of the golden path. The immense yet non-threatening draconic aura radiated from him.
"Aeolos, congratulations! From today onward, you are officially the ninety-ninth non-pureblood dragon student at Synapse Dragon Academy!"
