"You're asking me to take a thousand cloud cities to set up the wedding venue?" Muria's mouth twitched. It seemed like he was being looked down upon. The bride's family thought his wealth wasn't enough and that the venue he was preparing wasn't grand enough, which might embarrass his granddaughter and bring shame to their Seraphim family.
At that moment, although Muria really wanted to shout "No need," he couldn't bring himself to say those words. Compared to his not-yet-completed Synapse, the thousand cloud cities had an overwhelming advantage—there was no comparison. These were war fortresses capable of navigating the void, while his Synapse couldn't even leave its home world.
"This is so awkward, feels humiliating." That was Muria's thought at the time. He pondered for a long while and simply couldn't find a reason to refuse. He couldn't very well say, "Lord Arudiba, I feel embarrassed if you lend me these thousand cloud cities, so I can't accept them."
Using a thousand cloud cities to set up his wedding venue—just thinking about it made Muria's heart race. If he were back in the Titan tribe, he probably couldn't pull off something this grand.
Muria did think of one structure that could utterly dwarf these thousand cloud cities, and that was the Eternal Sky City built by the epic Titan Osiris, who had poured all his energy and resources into forging it.
In terms of scale, grandeur, and purpose, the Eternal Sky City was a complete level above the thousand cloud cities. This was the ultimate weapon, created by an epic Titan who had plundered endless knowledge and resources from the void.
The main cannon of the Eternal Sky City, the Stellar Orbital Cannon, was the ultimate weapon that even gods with powerful divine powers dreaded. One shot could decimate all gods.
But there was no way Muria could get his hands on that city. Not to mention whether Osiris would lend it to him, it would be inappropriate for him to ask. This was the foundation of the epic Titan's power, a vital artifact of the Titan race. Even in the wars against the evil gods, the Eternal Sky City had never been used.
"Understood," Muria processed all these thoughts in a moment and finally bowed his head to thank the Seraphim.
"Muria, you're about to marry my granddaughter, and you still call me 'Lord'?"
"Uh, my mistake. Grandfather." Muria quickly corrected himself, using the right title. From today on, he had gained a third grandfather.
"Good boy! I'll prepare the best wedding gift for you two!" Arudiba, the Seraphim, laughed heartily upon hearing Muria's address. From today, he had gained a grandson with epic potential—something worth celebrating.
"Follow me!" With his orders, Ilvester led Muria outside. He was taking Muria to choose a cloud city that suited him. After noting down the chosen ones, they would report it to Muria's grandfather. Arudiba would then summon the Seraphim family members who owned the cloud cities to negotiate lending them, as each cloud city had its own master.
Even though Arudiba was a Seraphim, he couldn't simply command a thousand cloud cities at will. He would have to go through considerable trouble and perhaps pay some price to gather them, but in comparison to what he wanted to achieve, that price was negligible.
"Although I don't expect much, I still want to ask—can I borrow a Seraphim's cloud city?" Muria asked his future brother-in-law, Ilvester, as they walked out of Arudiba's divine palace.
In the epic battlefield, Muria had seen cloud cities owned by Seraphims. They weren't just cities—they were lands in their own right, hosting millions of angels.
Just imagining the scale of such a city was mind-boggling. These angels weren't mere war machines; they were living beings with their own thoughts and needs. A city that could support such a vast number of angels had to be enormous.
Mikaela's cloud city was already oversized among the Seraphim descendants, but compared to a Seraphim's cloud city, it wasn't even in the same league.
If Muria could borrow a Seraphim's cloud city, that would be thrilling beyond belief. But a cloud city to a Seraphim was like a divine kingdom to a god—what god would let someone else take over their divine kingdom?
"You already know it's impossible, so why ask?" Ilvester glanced at the dreaming Muria.
"What if it's possible?"
"Want me to knock you out so you can dream properly?"
"No need, let's go pick one!"
...
"A thousand cloud cities? Is that really necessary? For a wedding of a junior from the Titan race? Isn't that a bit much? Especially since he's not even a pure-blood Titan."
"It's precisely because he's not pure-blooded that I'm doing this."
"To show goodwill to the dragon race?"
"You've seen the potential of the dragons in war. In the last war against those Old Ones who call themselves rulers, only the Dragon Kings of the Metallic Dragons participated. The Chromatic Dragon Kings didn't even make a move."
"You want to ally with those guys?"
"Of course. The appearance of the Old Ones is a warning. The realm cluster where they reside isn't far from our world cluster in Erathia. The fact that some evil gods can extend their power into our world is proof enough.
To prepare for future threats, we need to unite and pool more of the world's forces."
"Isn't that a bit too pessimistic? We've already repelled those Old Ones."
"And what about next time? We're beings who have stepped outside our own world clusters. We see farther than the gods who remain confined to their worlds because we've seen more.
Some short-sighted gods still wonder why we Seraphim, with power comparable to the Titans, don't clash with them and instead work together. These ignorant, shortsighted deities are baffled by our alliance, but we know why.
Because we know what terrifying forces lie beyond the world cluster. Races like the Titans and us Seraphim aren't rare. Even stronger forces may exist, though we've never encountered them. Who can say for sure they don't?"
"Alright, I agree with you. We not only need to ally with the Titans but also with the Dragon Kings. But are you sure a Dragon King will come to this wedding?"
"I wasn't sure before. But now that the Titan boy will descend to Erathia with a thousand cloud cities, it's the perfect invitation. A Dragon King is bound to attend."
"Who from our side will attend? You're definitely going, Arudiba!"
"A few more should go. There will be epic Titans present, and we need to deepen our alliance with the Titans. It's time to exchange some of our unique resources and knowledge."
"What do you plan to trade with the Titans?"
"Many things, like their weapon-forging methods, our cloud city construction technology, and the ways both our races harness the power of the world's source."
"Are you crazy? That's the kind of secret that can raise a race to prominence!"
"Cooperation benefits both sides."
...
Twenty days later, Muria stood above a city that could rival Mikaela's cloud city. In front of him stood the handsome Seraphim, Arudia.
"Go ahead! I'll help you invite the guests from the Boundless Heaven Realm. Are you ready?"
"Yes, I'm ready, Grandfather," Muria said, already quite familiar with the term. He could now control the thousand cloud cities he had chosen. Of course, his control was limited to basic movement and not the intricate operations, like activating their attack systems.
...
In Erathia, night fell. The divine kingdoms of the gods, turned into stars, covered the night sky, shining brightly. The more powerful the god, the brighter their star in the sky.
As the beings on the ground gazed at the night sky, their eyes were filled with awe. Sometimes, during moments of great joy or sorrow, some believers would even pray to the sky. But tonight's sky was different.
"What's that?" In a human city, a child pointed excitedly at the sky.
"Put your hand down! Didn't I tell you not to point at the sky?" His mother quickly pulled his hand down. Though there was no formal rule, people instinctively avoided pointing at the sky out of reverence for the gods.
"But, Mom, look at all the stars!"
The woman froze, then noticed that the view, which had been dimly lit by starlight due to the night, was suddenly becoming brighter, as if the sun were rising.
She heard the exclamations of the other city residents. She looked up, and saw a scene she would never forget.
A bright white star appeared in the sky, its light outshining the brightest stars. After it fell a little, a second white star appeared, followed by a third, fourth... More stars appeared in the night sky, growing larger and brighter, illuminating the darkness as if it were daytime.
"It's a miracle!" The woman dropped to her knees, praying to the stars in the sky. This was beyond her comprehension, and such a supernatural event could only be classified as a divine miracle.
