Chapter 2 - Notebook

'Thoughts'

"Talking"

––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––

"Green forest to the north, green to the west, green to the east, and a ruined city to the south."

A white haired young man muttered with a blank look on his face.

This was, of course, our protagonist. Now wearing black robes, pants, and coat. With a blindfold covering his eyes. It makes one wonder, how can he see?

"Caw!"

Perched on his shoulder was a raven of unknown origins—one that had appeared out of Ruby-knows-where, and had somehow taken a liking to him for some reason.

He glared at the notebook that landed on his face, currently laying on the damp grass. The urge to tear it apart was high, but he desisted. Instead he focused on his situation.

Due to the omnipotent, oh so powerful, smart and pretty Chibi Ruby's merciful wisdom, he knew that:

1. He was in Mountain Glenn.

2. He was definitely in Volume 1, or at least just before the Fall.

3. He couldn't destroy the notebook, because it contained important information.

'For now at least.'

"I'll tear you apart you bi–"

Before he could finish, the magical Swear Jar™ vanished and reappeared above his head, striking him with a resounding thwack! The blow sent him stumbling to the ground.

The raven hovered above, flapping its wings easily. Its eyes showed a glint of intelligence, and emotion, while looking at the familiar Swear Jar™, or at least it looked similar to a jar from the past.

'...'

"Sigh—"

The young man let out a sigh of defeat, his back laid on the forest floor, viewing the clear blue sky as clouds drifted slowly.

"How tragic that I've lost my god-given right to swear in peace."

The raven hovering above him tilted its head, its beady eyes screaming, "That's what you're focusing on?"

"It's one of the only joys in my life. Sympathize a little, will you?"

The raven swooped down and pecked his forehead.

"Fine, fine! Focus on the matter at hand: figuring out where the hell—" Thwack! "—OW—where in Remnant I am."

The raven nodded approvingly. He stood up, stretched his back with a satisfying pop, and picked up the notebook. The raven hopped onto his shoulder, craning its neck to read the contents of the notebook.

––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––BUCKETLIST–––––––––––

- Hello there!

By now, you've landed on Remnant. CONGRATS ON NOT GETTING YOUR SOUL SHREDDED! 👏👏👏 (Side note: Transporting souls through space-time has a teeny risk of disintegration. Whoops!) -

"You reckless son of a b–" Thwack!

The Swear Jar struck again.

A sigh escaped once again as he continued reading.

- So, as I was saying before you got interrupted by the jar (and no, I'm not watching you—just predicting things): You may have died, but if you're reading this, hooray! 🙌🎉 Glad you didn't, and I believed in you! -

The raven stared at the page, appalled by the writer's audacity. The young man, however, was too busy fuming to notice the bird's human-like reaction.

-Anyways, as the title says, this section is the bucket list—things I want you to accomplish in Remnant. By the way, you've probably noticed you've forgotten most memories from your past life. Don't sweat it; those memories are definitely nothing important. Cough Volume 5 to 9 of RWBY and 80% of your life cough. -

'The audacity of this bi—'

Thwack!

- BUCKET LIST:

1. Get into Beacon Academy

- Very important. 90% of why I dropped you here.

2. Beat Pyrrha Nikos

- I juiced your stats. Lose and I'll laugh.

3. Steal a Relic

- Gods need exterminating. Don't ask.

4. Get a Girlfriend

- Basic human need. Prioritize this.

5. Fix Her (Pics Included/Pick One):

- Neopolitan (Smol. Deadly. Adorable.)

- Cinder Fall (Fire mommy. Handle with care.)

- Raven Branwen (Bird issues. You'll relate.)

P.S. Check Page 2 for your OP perks. Try not to die! – R. -

"Fix Her? What am I, a therapist with a death wish? I mean, they're good-looking—and I do like Neo—but how am I supposed to fix them with my mediocre combat skills?"

'Who even is Raven? Is she Qrow's sister? Aunt? Still she is hot.'

The raven on his shoulder stared intensely at the paper, lingering on Raven Branwen's picture.

(A/N: Nerf Luna Snow.)

"Ugh, is finding a girlfriend really that important? I feel like she's messing with me at this point."

'I mean, that's a good goal to have, but shouldn't I just prioritize surviving first?'

Lost in his thoughts, he didn't notice the raven ruffle its feathers, whilst it glanced at the picture of Raven Branwen.

- I'm telling you now: With how stacked you are, I'll die laughing if you lose to Pyrrha. Just saying.

"..."

The young man, now named Altair, grew quiet.

When presented with something precious, humans tend to ignore the things that make this precious item dangerous. This is called being blinded by greed. But when a person has no apparent desires, the dangers become a large flag saying "I'm fuc–"

Thwack!

The main focus was clearly on [Proclamation]. That weird writing is definitely a huge red flag, redder than the flag on yanderes. It didn't even provide anything useful for its usage.

"It's some Outer God type sh—"

Thwack!

Altair was getting used to the hits coming from the Swear Jar™.

'But ignoring that mess.'

"She at least gave me some useful stuff."

Fighting styles of Nagumo, and Sakamoto. That already puts him on the mid to top fighters of Remnant. Not to mention his physical template being in Sakamoto's prime.

"Losing in the early stages is definitely not an option."

'Heck, I'll laugh harder than Ruby if I somehow lose against Pyrrha.'

The raven didn't share the same appreciation for what Altair was seeing. For starters, apart from Altair's semblance, and quantified Aura points. The raven couldn't understand anything, and that text. It didn't know why but it– no, she kept thinking about a yellow robed figure, sat on a misty throne. It reminded her of...

"Caw!"

"Stop making a fuss, will you. I'm trying to think right now."

With its concerns being ignored, the raven pecked Altair's snow white hair. A quick swipe stopped the raven, evading the strike, while Altair continued to read through the notebook.

"This is getting freaky."

Altair looked at the page, weirded out of his mind as he laid his eyes on the abomination of words. Though it still seemed norma/_ t0 hi∆>.

But not all people were just weirded out by the writing.

"CAW!"

The raven quickly turned the page in a panic. The writing was unsettling, it was wrong. For the raven it was like looking at an impossibility, incomprehensible for the human mind. The moment the page flipped, to the moment she saw the writing, she felt her mind thin out. It was only thanks to her instincts, and experience as a Huntress, that she was able to even flip the page as soon as she felt her mind warp.

Startled by the raven's sudden outburst, Altair gently grabbed it with his hand. The raven didn't resist as his fingers wrapped around its body, it welcomed it even, as it calmed down the moment it felt his touch.

He started patting its head with his finger, tracing it repeatedly on the raven's head.

"If you don't like seeing it you don't have to look you know."

Without another word, he read the contents of the page the raven flipped over to, choosing not to turn back to the other page.

–––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––DRAWBACKS––––––––––––––

A cog of reality

- A cog of a perfect machine.

- Others will find your words compelling, but unsettling.

- Your presence is wrong, but also natural.

- ¢°{"!#!#)@2)2.

"...what?"

A look of confusion immediately dominated his features. His blindfold scrunched up, a frown appeared, and an eyebrow raised up. The individual words made sense, but when put together it didn't spark any semblance of understanding.

'Definitely Outer God shenanigans.'

Despair took over him as he sat down. Cosmic horrors were definitely watching him now, and that was a death sentence. The Outer Gods weren't really evil, just indifferent, and that was the worst. And now he was in the radar of those indifferent cosmic beings. Needless to say he was fuc—.

Thwack!

He laid on the grass, defeated.

"Whyyyyyy!"

A crying Altair yelled, sobbing, tears running down his face whilst looking to the vast blue sky. The raven, now removed from his grasp, landed on his chest observing him.

Crying was more or less a valid reaction. Imagine ancient cosmic horrors have taken notice of your existence, and are interested in it. The same existence that see the world as nothing more than a speck of dust, and is usually indifferent to lesser beings.

The raven, even though it was less knowledgeable about what was happening, felt sympathy for Altair. But it couldn't contain its curiosity regarding the other contents inside the notebook, so it slapped him with its feathers, causing Altair to snap out of it for a brief period.

The sorry sight of a man continued to sob, as he turned the page.

- Deus Seal

- You can only exert 30% of your actual physical capabilities.

- 7 seals are placed upon your body. With each seal representing 10% of your physical capabilities.

- Each can only be lifted if a sitaution fulfilling the seal's requirement is happening.

• Seal of Wrath

- Requirement: Fight with unbridled rage towards your enemy.

• Hero's Seal

- Requirement: Fight in order to save a life.

• Judgement Scale

- Requirement: Fight to preserve the law's policy

• Rationality

- Requirement: Fight with unclouded judgement.

• Holy Seal of Sanctity

- Requirement: Fight with pure intentions

• Grand Seal : Remover

- Requirement: Fight against those who disrupt peace.

• Deus Seal : Cookies

- Requirement: Fight against those who may threaten your time to eat. -

"Stat checking Pyrrha is impossible if I only have 40% of my full capability."

'Rationality's basically unsealed as long as I can think properly.'

Reading the drawback, Altair was sure that beating Pyrrha, even with the perks he has would be hard.

'A 30% base stats, and lack in experience when it comes to fighting. I may have more skill and finesse, but I might get outclassed by the difference in experience.'

Unfortunate, but true. Dissonance between the body, and mind often leads to defeat.

'I have to get used to the fact that I have to fight people here.'

Humans from the modern age are in a time of peace, even though conflicts happens from time to time, they are rare. True violent conflicts are even rarer, often happening without the knowledge of the common populace.

'Even fist fights are hard to come by.'

Except if you're in a place of hormonal mess (Middle/High School).

"Anyways."

- Memorias Tristis Evanescet

- Removal of 80% percent of your memories from your previous life.

- Removal of Volumes 5 to 9 of RWBY.

- Memory palace and Photographic Memory acquired.

????????????

- ?????????

P.S. Turn to the other page for your I.D and Map. Your weapon, and transportation can be summoned with just a thought, good luck!!!!. -

"And another hidden skill I wonder if it's Deus ex machina, but its a debuff, it might come as a risk later."

A risk and liability. That's what the unknown meant, not knowing the specifics will somehow screw with him.

'Let's worry about that when it actually matters. I'll have to thank for the bike if I get to meet her.'

Altair flipped to the last page of the notebook. On the page was an I.D and Map wedged on the middle. Taking the I.D he read his forged credentials for this world.

Name : Altair Weiss Abbadon.

Age : 17.

Birthday : 8/8/XX.

Height : 6"2.

Weight : 75Kg.

Place of Birth : Anima, Oniyuri.

Race : Snake Faunus.

"Altair Weiss Abaddon. Why is my middle name Weiss, is this insinuating something?"

(A/N: What sharp intuition I say)

"Well aside from being screwed over by getting an OuterGod to notice me I should thank her when I have the chance."

Altair, grateful for Ruby's thoughtfulness, quickly stashed the I.D into his pocket, as he unfolded the map to take a good look at it.

Snap!

A tree branch on the dirt snapped from a distance, as low growls suddenly emanated from the surrounding bushes, with two large figures slowly approaching Altair.

He was too focused on reading the map to notice it.

The raven, however, was restless as it kept swatting its wings on the Altair's head to alert him of something.

"Can you stop, I'm trying to read this map."

Ignoring his plea the raven continued to swat its wings on the increasingly annoyed him. Altair was getting fed up, but he still remained focus on the map.

"So Vale should be just north from here, we can make it by sundown if we take my motorcycle."

Altair said happily as he stared at the map. What he didn't notice was the raven already flew away and landed down on a nearby tree, as a large shadow suddenly covered both him and his map.

"Why did it get dark all of a sudden."

Confused Altair looked up, away from his map. A hot breath touched his head as he was greeted by a large black furry torso with bone fragments.

"Can't even read a map in peac–"

He suddenly flew to a tree.

"ROARRRR!!!"

An Ursa has entered the battlefield.

"Growl"6x

Along with 6 Beowolves.

The raven perched on a tree branch let out a caw as if to say—

"Priorities huh."
