Chapter 10 - Chapter 10: Fear within the Wind

The journey to Beacon wasn't so difficult unless you counted for the air sickness that damned, cursed ailment did not let up during the flight, but at least he was able to make it bearable by chewing gum.

It wasn't a lot, but it's better than nothing. And some small warm-ups helped too. He did what Cloud instructed him to do, and it helped subside the ailment to a bearable passing upset stomach.

Okay, a little unsettling, but okay at least he won't have the possibility of someone giving him a horrible nickname, vomit boy, from his family. Above, he wouldn't be able to survive the first week of the new semester to leave that behind him.

But something will come up soon, it always does with his luck, and with his two mentors beside him, adding their luck with his, then this small peace is more of a luxury with all the craziness of his life, he is accustomed to.

"Yang!!"

A very familiar voice bemoaned in loud annoyance.

'OH, it's the girl from the robbery.'

Spoke Noctis nonchalantly, pointing in their direction at the two, a long-haired blonde with amethyst colored, for some reason, a feeling of … he doesn't know how to describe it. But if he did, it would be like randomly running into a childhood friend after not keeping in contact with one another.

Nah, maybe it's just the nausea that got the best of him.

Speaking of which.

His stomach growls, he feels the rise of his lunch with very little thought, and he chucks Crocea mors out of the vile contraption's innards.

Others felt the breeze through, all wondering what that was.

But none were the wiser as to what had happened.

Outside, Jaune was pouring out his lunch in a trash can so that the janitor would have such an oh so lovely gift left there for them.

Noctis winced at the kid losing his lunch, and if he wasn't dead, he'd probably also lose his lunch. Cloud could only close his eyes with recognition of a kindred spirit.

And he sees the irony in that quiet statement. But will never admit it.

With him finished losing his lunch, across the front yard of the academy, an explosion was heard. All three of them were on guard, with Jaune having crocea mors on hand. He calls upon Mako it flows through his blood, the green energy empowering. Sprinting to where possible danger could be.

When making it to the cloud of smoke, ready for any attack to happen.

"Cough, Cough"

The smoke cloud dispersed, seeing two figures in the smoke, Jaune glancing at the two girls in front of him, the one that he ran into last week, fighting Torchwick that night, Ruby, whose name he thinks was, and the other person.

The smoke clears, and he sees someone he didn't expect to see. "Schnee," he said in a bland monotone voice. The air stood still as if holding its breath.

"Arc," the girl in front returned the tone, Weiss Schnee, the 2nd daughter of Jacques, the CEO of SDC.

The despicable man, who not only tried to cause the downfall of his village but also tried to take the new power system that he, himself integrated in the village, which gave them more possibilities for defense, and also he was in the middle of another project, but the bastard made him lose progress cause the bastard stole the blueprints.

The two stare at one another. Both then smile at the other, shaking hands, haven't seen each other in a while.

"So how's your mom doing after kicking the old bastard to the curb?"

Correct the former CEO.

Weiss's smile faltered at the mention of her father; she is happy that her family is healing slowly. Her mother stopped banishing herself to her quarters, drowning in her sorrows with alcoholism, and became regal once again. She and the rest of her siblings are reconnecting once more, not like they formerly were, when children, but just as Mrs. Arc said, progress is still progress. And the divorce between her mother and father helped greatly. Now that the man is no longer in the picture, they truly heal

"She's doing better and everyone else as well, and Whitley will be the "official" heir to the company now," she told Jaune like an old friend that hadn't seen each other in years.

"Really? So what's the catch?" he asked curiously about what's really going on.

"Well, reall,y he has the title as the official heir, in reality, we agreed that we will have the same amount of control but in different branches he will have the "main" branch, while me and Winter will take corresponding Branches but it would be after we all finish our duties-" Weiss was cut off with someone chuckling.

"Hehehe duty." Ruby chuckled at the word. Weiss glanced at the odd girl, quickly dismissed her childishness to continued her conversation with Jaune.

"After Winters finishes serving her time in the Atlas Army, after my time as a huntress, and when Whitley finishes his time in college and gets his masters in engineering, business, as well as his agricultural."

She explained, listing out what the criteria should be met. Jaune nods in understanding and bewilderment when he hears about Whitley.

*whistles* "damn Whitley's serious on wanting to learn the mechanics on some of my inventions huh, and i'm guessing that your mom is holding down the fort until yall are done with this stuff, am I right" Jaune said impressed while easily deducing who's the one running the company while they're all doing the paths that they have chosen.

"Yes he was inspired by one of your machines when… You know my Father "borrowed" one of your blueprints when we were younger. We still have trouble with communication, but we try, and that's what matters."

Jaune nods.

" I can respect that, so I'm gonna ask what happened here?"

Jaune asked, pointing at the small-sized crater that was created in the middle of the academy's courtyard, in which the Ruby girl was standing.

"Oh, she wasn't careful with fire dust and caused the… little surprise that has happened here today."

"Me! You were the one who kept shaking the dust jar on my face in which caused me to sneeze, and the jar was also not well sealed".

"I beg your pardon!? I was not the one who ran into my things, causing such a mess and sneezing into my supplies of dust in the first place," Weiss heatedly pointed to Ruby. The younger girl didn't back down.

"And who puts their stuff in the courtyard?! You're supposed to sign the forms about your stuff, and they would put that in a storage room. Why do you have all that out here?"

-Time skip-

After the tongue-lashing that Ruby gave Weiss, it was heard by one of the staff, and with his help, he took the girl to the deputy. The two are left alone, the air between them awkward.

"Uh… hello again."

"Hi"

The two spoke, then silence returned. walking around the academy, not knowing how to make conversation.

"This silence is super awkward," Noctis said while standing beside the two Cloud far behind with his hands in his pockets.

"Just talk about something," Cloud said nonchalantly, really not bothered by the silence.

Taking the initiative, Jaune decided to speak. "Cool scythe," he complimented, which seemed to be the right answer because she smiled brightly enough to glow.

'To bright' the three thought. Jaune thought he would go blind, and both Noctis and Cloud thought that they were seeing the light to the afterlife.

"Thanks, this beautiful baby is Crescent Rose, High-Calibre Scythe Rifle, that was created by yours truly," she exclaimed with great pride at her magnum opus. Noctis and Cloud, and Jaune look at the humongous thing of a weapon. Cloud thought it looked intriguing, Noctis thought it would be impractical, and Jaune.

'Ok, Jaune, you know what she's talking about, just act dumb to make conversation.'

"Uh, what?"

'NOT THAT DUMB!'

Queue face slap.

"It's also a gun," she said nonchalantly. He nodded inwardly, screaming at how stupid he felt speaking like that.

"So what's your weapon?" Ruby asked innocently, seeing Crocea Mors on his hip, in its sheath.

"Oh, uh, this is my new main weapon, Crocea Mors. It's a hand-me-down from my family." Jaune took out the sword, changing the sheath into the kite shield. Ruby looked at the two weapons and was amazed, but what he said at the beginning caught her attention.

"Wait, New? Like you abandoned your other babies?!" she screamed in horror. Other people snapped to look at Jaune, some confused, others with venom, and some with indignation.

"Weapons! She's talking about weapons!" Jaune frantically exclaimed with people, then changing their views now that they get the context as some laugh, others are skeptical, but they can't really prove what the two were saying is true or not, but just went on with their day.

Jaune looks at the girl, his arms crossed, his features a mix of annoyance with apprehension, and the girl looks at the ground, embarrassed and not looking at the boy, fiddling with her fingers.

"As I was saying, my new main Weapon, Crocea Mors, I still have my other weapons on my person, but mostly with my "semblence" "

This caught her attention. "What does your semblance do? And what does it have to do with your weapons?" Ruby questioned Jaune he didn't answer with words. Multiple crystalized weapons floated around them, from swords, spears, daggers, guns, but other weapons caught her attention. Jaune looked in the direction, seeing the royal arms.

Ruby looks at the weapons, drooling just seeing the amount of weapons all looked incredibly made, but fifteen weapons caught her eye. She tried to touch it, but her hand passed through it. She tried grabbing it again and again, failing multiple times, looking like a cat trying to get its toy but constantly failing.

He quickly dispersed his weapons, Ruby moping at the beautiful babies disappearing. Her mood shifted a 180 back to untapped energy.

" Oh my Oum! Whatelsecanitbeusedfor!? isitanarmrourydoesittakeanykindofweaponordoyoumaketheweaponitself? Waithowdoyouuseyourweapons!?" Ruby rapid-fires question after question, and Jaune answers all her questions.

"Keeping my weapons close by. sort of, but yes, I can take any weapon I take a liking to, to use. No, I can't make any weapons, like this," he answered, then instantly summoned a throwing dagger, threw it at a tree, and it stuck. Dispersed and then appeared back in his hand. Ruby was indescribably enamoured with his semblance; it can hold more than one weapon, and … and he's walking away from her.

"Wha?! Hey, wait up!" she called out, petal bursting to catch up unbeknownst to anyone, a figure was overlooking the two. The winds began to stir with uncertainty as if the world itself was messaging to spectator of the fear that shall follow where hope shall be scarce.

"Very well, I'll see to it that what need shall be given," the distorted voice of the figure rumbled where none stood a promise or warning, all heard but known to none.
