Kevin hurled himself to his feet and vomited, but nothing came out. His vision was blurry, and he could feel his heart beating faster.
Whispers of unfamiliar voices floated to his ears. Some were screams of help and agony.
Under his gaze, shadows formed—until they transformed into a group of people. They were seated around a table, with a dead child lying on top of it.
A man wearing a crown eyed the child greedily.
"Where is the heart?"
"Here, Your Majesty." One of the men sitting at the side stood up and offered a plate bearing a raw, blood-covered heart.
The crowned man grimaced. "Do we have to eat this raw?"
"Yes, Your Majesty. Do not worry. We warlocks have removed the child's heart of all impurities. We made sure it retains only the blood—which you must consume to gain tremendous power."
The man with the crown nodded and proceeded to eat it.
