Alex began concentrating on dodging the various attacks that were thrown at her whilst trying to figure out what she could do. If she kept this rate up the boss's health would only go up, and not down, so what she needed was a breakthrough, a method to annihilate the boss in a single hit which meant creating an extraordinarily powerful, single-target, sure-kill skill.
Alex gathered the lightning mana again like she was creating [Ball Lightning], and tried to refine it into a single point, however she couldn't compress the mana enough, and even if she could, there wasn't enough vertical momentum.
Wracking her brains, Alex tried to come up with a method in order to gather tons of mana into a single spot.
However, no matter how much she tried to figure it out, she couldn't so instead Alex decided on dealing with the problem of vertical momentum.
Her first idea was to call down a strike of lightning in order to kill the target, but she had no idea how to do it.
She tried to create a point of gathering far above the tree, but found that there was something restricting it.
Alex tried to recall what this phenomenon was because she was certain that she had read it somewhere in the books once.
It came to her rather quickly. The reason for the obstruction was due to the fact that trying to summon a lightning bolt from within the domain of the God of Lightning was trying to undermine his authority which meant that it wasn't allowed.
Recalling another thing, she remembered that magic had chants that asked for the power of powerful entities in order to strengthen their own spells.
The issue was offending Levelk, and chanting allowed for direct communication with the gods. As such all she needed to do was to create a chant that granted her permission in order to summon lightning from above.
She tested her theory.
"I am the chosen of the God of Lightning Levelk, this tree has attacked me, the chosen of a god, and shall be smited by the power of the God of Lightning. As the Child of Thunder I pray to the heavens above that I shall be granted permission to smite the tree before me, NOW GO!"
Alex summoned as much of the lightning mana in the vicinity as possible, and tried to compress it all together, but found that it wasn't possible so she let the massive ball of lightning fall towards the tree at a rapid pace.

Alex panted as she released the ball of lightning, summoning all that mana had cost her a lot of energy, and she was exhausted.
However, now that her experiment worked, she decided to focus on the first problem which was compressing the lightning mana.
Remembering that the God of Lightning Levelk was her patron, and that she was Thunder's Child, Alex realised that she could simply ask both of them to help her compress it.
And so, Alex began her chant once more.
"I the chosen of the God of Lightning Levelk, and the Child of Thunder shall call upon the strength of my patrons to refine this ball of energy into a proper lightning bolt to smite the enemy that has slighted me."
