In the dead of night, Gu Lanshan suddenly awoke from a dream. It was a simple dream where she died and her body was discovered two months later, already decayed and emitting a foul stench. It was the horrible smell that startled her awake.
Gu Lanshan picked up her phone to check the time; it was only 1:57 a.m., but she couldn't fall back asleep. Her chest felt unbearably tight. She turned on the TV where a melodramatic art film was playing—love dramatized to the point of life and death—but she found it utterly dull and quickly shut off the TV. Lying back down, she attempted to sleep again. However, as soon as she closed her eyes, the image of her decaying corpse reappeared, causing her to open her eyes in fear. Her body shuddered twice before she reached for her phone, looking for someone to talk to.
