Chapter 10 - Regrouping

Ash and Kover finally got to their destination, a place that Ash would call a safe house.

Be it luck or coincidence, the safe house had a strong structure and was well-layered.

It was a two-story building with a lot more underground.

Ash quickly opened the door for Kover and followed shortly after.

He turned on the torchlight on his cell phone instead of using the one in the house, his intention was not to draw attention to the place until he was sure no one was following them.

He quickly dashed through the long hallway together with his brother and soon... He got to the large room ahead.

As soon as he got there, he met several figures already in the place but before he could direct the light towards them, one of the figures picked him up by the shirt and slammed him into the wall.

"You have a lot of explaining to do, you know that?" The figure that held him to the wall yelled in his face.

"Ash!!" Kover shouted as the cell phone fell from his brother's hand and lightening up the entire place.

Aside from seeing them, he had already recognized the voice that yelled at him.

And as such, was able to conclude that they had returned.

"Good to see you all again," he spoke softly

"Answer the damn question," Jared pressed him hard against the wall.

"You said this whole shit would go down tomorrow, why has it happened now?"

"What difference does it make?" Ash asked back while maintaining his cool.

"Today, tomorrow, a few seconds ago, a few hours from now. What difference do they make?"

"You said it would happen- you told us six days,"

"Six fucking days," Jared angrily let him down as he walked away.

"You know-"

"How did you even know this shit was gonna go down?" Jared asked again with a louder voice.

"Huh? Have you been living under a rock, don't y'all watch the news?" Ash asked back.

"The News?"

"Stop giving us half-assed information," Sinon snapped at him.

"Brother, are you ok?" Kover asked as he handed over his cell phone to him, the lighting of the room then switched over to him.

"And who is he?" David asked.

"He's no one for you to be concerned about," Ash answered.

"Someone please turn on the light," he pleaded.

Diva then walked over to the side of the room and turned on the light switch, which completely illuminated the room.

Everyone could now see the other more clearly, some looked like they had been trashed or something, while others were completely fine and unharmed.

"I do apologize for not accurately giving you the right date though," Ash continued as he walked closer to the crew.

"But you have seen the huge earthquakes that occurred in the day, right? It's only a matter of weeks before the whole world goes to hell,"

"The whole world? This shit only went down, only in this city," Jared corrected.

"What are you saying?" Ash asked looking surprised.

"Gareth said something about seeing the News, it was only this city that the earthquake affected,"

"What? How's that possible?" Ash couldn't believe what he was hearing at this point.

"Yeah, before the communication line got cut, it was on the news that this city was facing a huge disaster," Gareth explained.

'What is going on? Will the apocalypse keep changing at every event? this isn't how it happened in the past.' Ash thought as he listened to Gareth's explanation.

"So... We all came here to hear from you if you had anything to say about it," Gareth concluded.

"Um..." Diva tried to speak but kept silent.

"Do you have something in mind?" Ash asked, feeling concerned.

"Y- yes," she answered. "On my way here, I saw some people looking dead but alive,"

"Huh?"

"What the? Are you sure?"

"Yes,"

At first, they were confused and doubtful about what she said because such a thing was not supposed to be possible. But she then began to explain to them.

"After the earthquake subsided, I left my home and headed for this place, even though it would take time to reach, I came here anyway because I wanted to know what was going on,"

"I knew you might have answers to this whole chaotic event, so I came here,"

"But after it got dark, there was this green fog that filled the whole area, making it impossible for me to see clearly, so I decided to wait till it cleared away,"

After waiting for like, an hour maybe, I started hearing screams from outside the house I hid, and when I looked out the window, I saw people eating other people but they had this weird movement, I think, almost as if they were zombies,"

'That is exactly how it happened before.' Ash remembered a scene from the past as he confirmed within.

"That's bullshit, right?" Jared asked with disbelief as he was about to make fun of what she said.

"No, she's right,"

"Wait, seriously?"

"Well, she doesn't look like she'd lie about it, does she?" Rika answered immediately.

"Oh,"

For a brief moment, the whole room was silent as everyone had something going on in their minds.

'Just the first day of the apocalypse that has changed, everything else should be as before.'

'But in case things keep changing, I'll need to think of what to do, and fast' he thought within as he glanced at Kover stylishly.

"If there's anything I'm sure of, is that it's only gonna get worst from here," Ash eventually broke the silence.

"So what do we do?" Sinon asked. "Sit around or...?"

"Isn't it obvious? We prepare for whatever comes our way," Ash said as a smile appeared on his face.

"What is he talking about?" Sinon asked Diva who was closest to her.

"How?" David asked while taking a step forward.

Ash let out a brief sigh and smirked before answering.

"Well, Can y'all fight?"
