"Is this... a happy life?"
"Ahem, that b*stard father calls this 'teaching through entertainment.' He used the excuse of a snowball fight to trick me into coming along. Normal people would focus on the snow part, but his focus was all on the 'fight' part."
"Don't mind the details. Let me look again... mm, got it right this time."
This time, Yamato carefully read through the list and only clicked play after Rotom confirmed the content was correct.
"Over in Ringo, Uncle Queen built a lab. The rest are processing plants and similar facilities. Those little black guys are called Carkol, and they transport coal for the winter. They're pretty popular Pokémon."
"Plus, the snow over there is pure white, you can boil it and drink it straight. Unlike this place, where it's all polluted black snow."
"That's true, but I have another question, why did you keep that last recording?"
The earlier footage could still be considered happy memories, but the part with the snowball attack definitely didn't seem like something pleasant to remember.
Although it was technically a snowball, under Kaido's grip, the loose snow had already been compressed into an iceball. And with Haki added, it was basically on par with a cannonball.
"Well... I remember I wanted to complain about it to Dad back then, but something unexpected happened afterward, and it was never brought up again. Then I had too many videos, and I just forgot to delete it."
"Don't focus on that! What I want you to see is Wano Country! Rotom, help me find some suitable footage!"
"Understood, Rot~om."
Rotom began searching its database for appropriate videos. But following its own logic, it ended up pulling out the lesson plan of Wano Country Elementary School.
First Lesson for Wano Country Students — The Beautiful Wano Country Under the Rule of the Wise King and Lord Arceus (Aerial View).
This was part of the Beasts Pirates' brainwashing initiative, and now a mandatory class in Wano Country. It mainly consisted of everyday scenes of Wano Country captured from various angles.
The view descended from the sky, starting from the shrine atop Mt. Fuji, looking down at the entire Wano Country from a god's perspective.
Since footage of Ringo had already been shown earlier, Rotom skipped it automatically.
It began showcasing the grasslands of Kibi. To enhance the effect, Rotom even included comparison photos taken earlier during their walk.
Workers riding on giant Altaria to commute to the small Sky Island, Jumpluff drifting into the sky carried by the monsoon winds, Emboar lazily basking in the sun on the grassy fields, surrounded by flocks of Mareep lead by Ampharos.
At the border of Kuri, herds of Tauros ran wild, while Miltank played rolling games on the hillside. Even in the most polluted region, Udon, Weezing was absorbing toxic gases, while Muk was purifying wastewater in the rivers.
Flower Capital remained bustling, but amidst the prosperity, there was now a touch of everyday life and warmth.
"See that? That's the ideal Wano Country. Even if Oden were alive, he couldn't have achieved this. This is the goal you should strive for. Just let that Oden rest in peace already."
"I'm honestly more jealous of you having a Dad. Why couldn't that bull-gorilla find someone like that!"
"Yamato" wasn't truly naïve, both Kaidos were essentially the same. The real difference between them was Arceus. And throughout the conversation, Yamato never stopped mentioning Arceus.
[Given by Dad, modified by Dad, promised by Dad.]
She couldn't help but start imagining. If she had a Dad too, what would life be like?
"By the way, you said you're stronger than "Kaido," right?"
"Yup, what about it?"
"Would you consider helping me defeat Kaido?"
"No. That's something you have to do yourself, not something I should do."
To be fair, if the goal really was to liberate Wano Country, this would indeed be the easiest method. But if that happened, "Yamato" wouldn't undergo any fundamental change.
And such a "Yamato" wouldn't be capable of protecting Wano Country either.
"These seas aren't that stable. Even in my world, we have to leave someone behind to watch over Wano Country."
"This isn't my world. Once I leave, how will you protect "Wano Country"?"
The countries in the New World aren't safe. Without being an affiliated nation, survival relied entirely on one's own strength. "Kaido's" rule was brutal, but it still deterred some pirates. In a world where everything is worse than the other, the Four Emperors' territories were still better than lawless lands.
"You're right! This kind of thing is best handled on your own."
"I still don't really understand why Dad sent me here. Maybe he wanted me to see what the Wano Country here is like."
"In any case, I've figured out my goal for the future. It's time for us to leave….. once we take care of a little problem."
"A little problem?"
"Yeah, his reaction isn't too slow; he's already caught up."
A Substitute is no replacement for the real body. Yamato had already sensed that her Substitute had disappeared, and right at that moment, "Kaido" in his Dragon Form had flown back once again.
"You wanna fight? I can help you deal with King."
"No need. Your body should be tough, right?"
"It's... decent, I guess."
"Then brace yourself. It's going to get exciting."
Twin wings of lightning reappeared behind Yamato. As the sound of a turbine revving up roared to life, faint electric currents flickered across Yamato's body, eventually absorbed by the twin wings.
"I'll leave that guy to be your opponent in the future. For now, it's time to take you on a new adventure—Extreme Speed Engine!"
Extreme Speed — a Normal-type move with very high Priority. As the name suggests, it's a move that wins through sheer speed.
Speed is power. When moving at high velocity, a Pokémon's body can unleash tremendous explosive force. According to some researchers, Arcanine may be able to run so fast precisely because it has mastered this move.
Yamato's Extreme Speed Engine was a high-speed flight ability developed by combining Extreme Speed with the powers of Zekrom. Its biggest flaw was that it wasn't good at turning, and it was far from passenger-friendly.
If you didn't have some real strength, flying with her could very well kill you from the wind pressure alone.
But while this "Yamato" wasn't as strong as her, she had still been forged under "Kaido's" hammer, after all. A bit of wind wasn't going to stop her. Accompanied by the excited cry of "Yamato," "Kaido" could only watch helplessly as the two Yamatos flew off right under his nose.
"Damn it! She has got that kind of power and still resorts to these tricks... damn it all!"
Dark clouds loomed over the skies. "Kaido" was in an absolutely foul mood.
His son had been whisked away by a "daughter" who looked exactly like him. And this "daughter" clearly had the strength to fight him head-on, yet chose to play tricks instead. First using a substitute to deceive him, then avoiding a real battle altogether. He was seething with rage, with nowhere to vent it.
