Rosaria Potter was a bit of a sarcastic girl, though it wasn't I hated it. But talking with her for the next five minutes quickly unveiled how she had a rather cutting sense of humor.
"And there goes Dorea Malfoy." Rosaria spat as we watched when Dorea got to the end of her line and soon enough Malfoy looked riped to vomit with her pale face having turned almost green which was certainly a sight to behold.
"Heh, serves her right," Rosaria muttered and I gave her a look and I asked.
"You got some history with her, I assume?"
And Rosaria grimaced before she simply stated, "Britain's upper level of cultivators, nobles, and magical is a surprisingly small pool for the people who want to socialize and not be hermits."
"Dorea from the very moment I have known her, was always the princess of the Malfoy's who moved from France here to Britain after their ancestor was killed in a mutual kill battle by a Dhampir Lord and their brood," Rosaria explained and shook her head.
Well, not much I could really say about that, so I just shrugged and thankfully I didn't need to say anything as the sorting ceremony was coming to a close. With 'Sage Lord' Dumbledore standing up with his great beard coming down low to his waist.
"For the first years, this year will be filled with a great amount of self-discovery as you find yourself in your magic. But even as I say this again for one hundred and thirty-fifth time, I will say it again."
Dumbledore's gaze was filled with power as he looked across our forms before he spoke firmly. "Young men and women. Ageless immortality is literally within your grasp within Hogwarts. The fact that you could live eternally however is purely reliant on you working hard here in Hogwarts. So for your own sake, do not slake off. Because it would be the saddest day of their lives for your parents to see you die of old age before they do."
Several whispers broke out across the tables as silenced almost reigned at Dumbledore's start of his speech, but either way he continued without seemingly any care of the whispers.
"Now, for all students of this fine institution, I will have to warn you that many magical creatures within the Beast King Forest are in a bad mood due to the native Acromantula having to deal with a small clan of invading Driders that have been found making tunnel's outside the forest.
I shuddered at the thought of Drider's remembering how they would fill their victims with their young who would then eat their way out of their poor fucking hosts.
"So it goes without saying to be especially careful as Drider's would love to capture a wizard or especially a witch wandering the forest in one of their pit traps." Dumbledore finished with warning.
The man then took a breath before his voice filled with some humor as he continued in a more jovial tone. "Now, we must all be truly famished, so let's all begin to eat!"
As Dumbledore sat back down he clapped and with a loud background speaking rang out as the countless plates in front of us filled with food and Rosaria said easily. "Take one of the chalices and whisper what you want to drink and so long as it's not a magical drink, the chalice will fill with it."
I leaned in and whispered to my chalice. "Dr Pepper." And I couldn't help a grin as it filled with the dark fluid and I took a sip before nodding at the flavor that matched exactly what I wanted.
But the drink wasn't the important bit... Literally every food I could imagine, and had seen in my life was on the table before me. I blinked as I realized that the center of the large table was actually a track or enchanted as it was moving down the line bringing more dishes past my eyes so I didn't have to ask anyone to pass food over to me or anything.
Rosaria and I ate without speaking to one another until two 'soulless' gingers plopped themselves in front of Rosaria and I blinked at seeing one was clearly male with freckles across his face along with having a pretty strong build.
The other ginger had closer to red hair and was more on the petite side with her wearing a somewhat threadbare robe that clung to her tight curves.
"Ron, Ginny, this is my new friend Jake. A New Blood, so don't bully him." Rosaria drawled before she took a drink from her drink that was filled with apple juice.
Ron Weasely gave me a wide grin with him nodding as he threw up a thumbs as he said. "Welcome to Gryffindor Jake, so don't worry we won't be weird about you being a New Blood."
I chuckled and I would have offered to shake his hand but with the food moving between us that would have been rude to the people down the line so I just gave him a thumbs up as well as I said. "Thank's dude, I appreciate it. And Ginny right? Are you his sister?"
Ginny who was picking out her food looked up and nodded with her giving Rosaria a look before she spoke in a kind voice that was tinged with excitement.
"Yup! I am just a little bit short of being a year younger than Ron here, so I luckily managed to still be in the same year as him and my friends... Sadly Luna went to Ravenclaw though." She said more to Rosaria then me.
And Rosaria's face tightened before she looked at Ron and said aggressively. "Hmm, then we will need to keep an eye on her. Ain't no one bullying my adorable little moony Luna."
Ron smiled awkwardly and said with both hands up in surrender. "Alright alright, I will tell the twins to keep an eye out for her, and to put out the word that Luna is off limits for any bullying."
'So Luna is also here?' I mused internally before shrugging, as it really didn't matter... If anything I guessed that it would make thing's more interesting due to having access to the particular brand of crazy that Luna had on tap with her having seer's blood.
"So anything I should know being a New Blood at Hogwarts?" I asked curiously.
And both Ginny and Ron shared a look before shrugging with Ron saying helplessly. "No idea man... Just don't sign any contracts without your head of house in McGonagall and Rosaria's Mum checking them I guess."
To which Rosaria added helpfully. "As a New Blood your first magical contract with a magical creature will be much stronger so make sure you choose the right creature."
With that our topic switched to the classes we were most curious about and looking forward to, and in my case, I answered Transfiguration while Rosaria obviously wanted to get into Charm's with her mother's class while Ginny was interested in Transfiguration like I was.
Ron however just wanted to play wizard's chess and didn't even want to go to class. However Either way after a good while McGonagall stood up with her speaking out. "Alright, students! The feast will be winding down now, first years you will be following your Houses Prefect to your dorms, while the upper years have a bit longer to converse."
The prefects of the Gryffindor house was four young adults with one of them being another ginger who I think could have been Percy with how he was wearing glasses. But the other male was an Asian who was walking with a sword sheathed on his back.
The other two were ladies I couldn't recognize with one of them being a very busty blond with somewhat glowing blue eyes, and the other was a brunette with green eyes with a wide welcoming smile.
'Makes sense there is four prefects with how much bigger Hogwarts is... As there is no way two young adults can keep a couple thousand other teenagers and young adults from doing anything stupid.'
And just as I was thinking about teenager's doing stupid things... I saw Mavuika whisper something to Dumbledore who blinked and chortled with amusement before his voice spoke out again.
"Oh! And I forgot this little bit of news haha. We updated the wards around Hogwarts, now no longer can common magical fertility potions act to override the potions in your food to keep you all from impregnating one another... Actually, I didn't forget this and just didn't want to say anything as it's kind of embarrassing. But regardless please do not purposefully get pregnant during the middle of the school year!"
And with that Dumbledore popped in place with him seemingly teleporting away as he was clearly done giving us his attention.
