The whole school had their eyes glued to the screens in front of them. On the edge of their seats waiting to see what was about to happen and how these things worked.
"Alright let me explain the rules for this duel. Victoria came to me and asked for me to make this official so no penalties for fighting will occur today and I'll be here to make sure the rules are upheld. She has asked me to make this a battle to the death do you accept? Professor spark motioned over my way.
A deep frown appeared on Jesses face.
"Battle to the death? This is my second day here. Absolutely not."
"What a shame" professor spark smiled.
"Aside from the battle to the death the rules will be as follows. Fight until one side is knocked unconscious or surrenders. If I deem the fight has gone too far, I will step in and stop it declaring a winner. The winner will receive a certain number of magic points to live comfortably for i would say a week or so. If not at the very least upgrade their living condition. The loser will lose magic points as well as be able to go into the negatives. Keep in mind that only through duels or teacher punishment are you able to go into the negatives. We won't be too harsh on the loser today since it's the first duel of the year but it's important to keep in mind that life can become extremely hard after going into the negatives."
"Any questions?"
Victoria seemed to have an indifferent look in her eyes as they pierced through the air like knives waiting to cut down anything in her path, only she knew what she was thinking her expression did not change once.
"Uhm… are we able to decline duels and official matches?" Jesse looked over at Victoria whose expression changed showing a glimmer of rage for a split second before going back to normal.
"You can force a duel if both parties are not in agreement by paying magic points depending on the student you are challenging. Vice versa the opposed student can spend magic points to forcibly cancel the duel and not be challenged for another month or more depending on the amount spent." Professor spark looked out into the thousands of screens projecting everything around the whole school and spread her arms wide.
"Your livelihood depends on your performance and contributions here at this academy so while you're here make the best of what you have and fight for what you want or lose the things you need!"
Suddenly she jumped up high into the sky and pointed her hands down at the earth between Jesse and Victoria without warning she smiled to herself secretly.
BANG! BANG!
Lightning flashed before everyone's eyes with everything going white multiple explosions let off around the stadium as the school erupted in cheers and screams. Jesse looked up to where professor spark was only to see that she had vanished.
Jesse could feel a stinging pain in his stomach as he started coughing uncontrollably and falling back a few steps. When he looked back to the front another fist was coming straight for his face. He leaned his body backwards as far as he could narrowly dodging the fist before only feeling the world start to spin. With a swift kick Victoria managed to sweep Jesse's legs from under him letting him fall on his back.
"What's wrong can't even tell what a start signal is?" Victoria smiled and asked cutely. She began to punch in front of her a couple times not bothered to be aiming for anything Jesse began to laugh narrowly moving out of the way of each of her blows as he started to concentrate and focus his spell.
