Lemonk's eye twitched. "These are literally the exact items I need…"
"We here at ProgressMart take pride in satisfying our customers' survival needs," the system chirped. "So, how may I help you, dear sir?"
It even sounded like a store clerk now.
Lemonk sighed. "You're lucky I can't uninstall you."
"Flattered, truly."
He scanned the screen again, every item useful, every one just out of budget if he tried to buy everything. Still, he had to prioritize.
"Wait. What's this 'Inventory' thing? Only two slots?"
"Each slot can hold one item, but only if you're physically capable of carrying it. No pocket dimensions for weaklings."
"And yes, more slots can be purchased later… up to a limit."
"Let me guess, you won't tell me the limit."
"Where's the fun in that?" the system giggled.
Lemonk rolled his eyes and muttered, "Forget it."
After a moment of consideration, he made his decision.
"I'll buy everything except the weapon."
"Excellent choice! Order confirmed."
[Ding!]• Inventory +2 Slots acquired.• Training Weights purchased.• Health Potion purchased.
A sleek black trunk materialized before him with a soft shimmer. It was about 1m long and half as wide and deep.
A smaller glass vial also appeared on the floor, a pinkish-red potion swirling inside. It looked heavy, syrupy, and strangely alive.
Lemonk picked up the potion first, curious. "Let's test the inventory…"
He focused on the vial and imagined storing it.
Pop.
It vanished from his hand, replaced by a clean icon in one of his two new inventory slots.
"…Whoa. Okay, that's neat."
He reached out to retrieve it, but his hand passed through the inventory window like a hologram.
"Eh?"
"It's not physical, genius. You will it out."
Lemonk focused again, and the vial reappeared in his palm.
He nodded. "Nice. Inventory, understood."
Satisfied, he returned the vial and turned to the trunk. Inside was a set of weighted equipment:
Two black wristbands – 10 kg each
Two matching ankle bands – 10 kg each
A heavy vest – 30 kg
A pair of dumbbells – 15 kg each
The material was unlike anything he'd seen. Smooth. Sleek. Not metal, but dense, matte, and uncomfortably futuristic.
He held one dumbbell. The weight felt real, not artificially dulled like training props. His arm trembled slightly under the load, but he smiled.
"Now this is what progress feels like."
