Ondina's eyes were blazing like a furnace and I could feel the temperature getting hotter.
I felt danger reeking from her, she took a defensive stance like we were about to attack her.
"Ondina….."
I called softly trying to calm her down, but instead she turned towards me and I saw her raise her hands, where a ball of fire had unexpectedly formed, which she launched towards me.
I couldn't react, everything was so fast and unexpected. I've engaged in normal fights but paranormal attacks weren't something I've witnessed in my life.
And this was my little sister launching the attack, I could only try to dodge it, but I couldn't. It was too fast and too precise.
I shut my eyes bracing myself for the impact but it never came. I looked up and found Dana in front of me with her hands stretched forward whilst emitting a glow.
Looking closer it looked like she was controlling a little mass of water which quenched the ball of fire thrown at me.
I didn't stay in shock for long because Ondina had already sent three more attacks towards us, each on bigger than the last.
It was then that I realized that at the moment she wasn't my sister, she was an opponent.
After series of attacks I could feel Dana getting weaker, it was then that Uncle Jude stepped in and knocked my sister out with what sounded like a chant.
I was so shocked and confused and overwhelmed, Uncle Jude could clearly sense my distress and patted me in the back.
"It's ok son, it's always hard with the first encounter"
I took deep breaths and steadied myself then asked in a quiet tone
"What's going on"
"I think it will be better to tell you when your sister wakes up"
Ondina's POV
I woke up with a bad headache and a very strange feeling.
I felt hot, too hot to be regarded as fever. I couldn't remember anything that happened after our conversation with Uncle Jude.
I sat up on the bed and saw Onyx napping on my bedside.
As soon as I saw him, different images flooded my head. I saw myself throwing fire at him through my hands?
The more I thought about it the more restless I became. I immediately woke Onyx up to ask him about what was happening with me.
Instead he looked terrified when he saw me and backed away like he had seen a ghost.
Sensing commotion, uncle Jude came into the room.
He beckoned at me and my brother to follow him. He led us to the dining room, where food was already made available.
I glanced out the window and it was already dark. It got me wondering how long I was out for.
Dinner was eerily quiet and I could feel Onyx's deep gaze fixated on me.
I dropped my cutlery in anger and turned to look at Onyx who was seated beside me and said
"Why are you staring at me like a creep"
...… all I received was silence from everyone.
I could feel my blood boiling,literally, and I turned to uncle Jude and said in a warning tone
"You better explain what's going on here before I lose my mind"
He neatly dropped his cutlery and looked up at me.
"If you don't calm down little one, it might lead to another incident and I'm sure you wouldn't want that to happen"
I nodded my head and sat down, I tried really hard to calm down but something just kept riling me up. I didn't know what or why kept me on edge but I believed that my uncle might have an explanation.
After a while, we gathered in the garden, which had unfortunately burnt down.
I couldn't help but glance at my surrounding, everywhere looked like it went through hell, literally.
I also noticed that since I woke up, Onyx had been avoiding me like a plague.
He didn't even sit on the same bench as me, I knew that it had something or everything to do with me attacking him.
Uncle Jude cleared his throat to get our attention
"Well, I've always wanted to let you guys in on this secret."
"Your mother wasn't just a commoner but she was actually one of the last living royal blooded Norahsan. She was blessed with the full package"
"She could manipulate and control Air,Fire, water and Earth, which only Royals could.
The control of these four elements meant that she was one of the greatest and strongest mage to exist in her time.
But due to the division of Norahsid years ago, most of magical beings disappeared without trace. The remaining people like your mother, Dinah and my wife,had to hide their abilities.
They weren't alone because they were from a tribe of magical people who could control different elements, had special kineses,even some magic.
As at that time, Marie was the most protected person in the tribe for obvious reasons."
"When I was 16 years old, the tribe got attacked and almost everyone got killed or captured.
The tribe leader assigned Dinah, Vera and i to protect Marie at all cost.
I really couldn't understand why we had been assigned to protect a little girl rather than fight. Out of anger I decided to prove I could protect the tribe by venturing into the heart of the war.
The view wasn't very nice, it really wasn't what I had expected. Dead bodies littered the ground like trash and there was a strong smell of blood.
The fight was harsh and I instinctively hid myself. I calmed myself down before leaving my hiding spot and I saw something that shocked me.
The people attacking us weren't just fighting, they were drawing out their powers and magical essence. I knew there and then that if they got to Marie, it was over for everyone.
I ran back and we were able to escape."
"I also didn't get to know or understand the intricacies of how deep the magical world could go but one thing I knew was that our powers forms a core part of our being and each person had a different control over the elements."
"To cut the long story short, you both are also royal blooded, which mean that you can control all the elements and also have high magical essence"
I digested the new information but couldn't help but question something
"If we're so powerful, why did it take so long for me to finally use this power"
"That is because your mother sealed up your magical essence to prevent you both from being hunted. But honestly I think it's because you are not exactly the same as your mother and your brother...….
You are not different from them, it's just that there's something brewing inside of you that I can't fathom. Even Dinah saw it; Ondina your journey is going to be very painful and victory is not assured"
He paused for a while then brought something out of his pocket; a vial of red liquid.
"Right here is something your mother gave me when she found out about being pregnant with you .In her words, if you want to give everything up and live a normal life without facing your destiny,drink this. If otherwise then you'll have to face your destiny squarely because when your power fully awakens it cannot be stopped anymore.
