The forest that Li Yujian landed in was very thick. There was barely any light source coming through the dense leaves. There was a noise of fierce beasts roaring nearby. The place was rich with spiritual energy.
The beasts were further away so Yujian decided to pick herbs first. He was quite familiar with plants so he was very successful in picking herbs. He moved slightly between the trees, brushing aside a layer of grass. In his left hand were two bundles of herbs he'd gathered.
Something unusual happened, the forest that was filled with beasts when he first landed, is now deserted in an instant. Even the birds that used to flutter around have flown away.
"This scene is weird." Yujian stopped in his tracks and cautiously examined the area. He scanned the surrounding environment carefully. After walking around for two hours, they still haven't come across any beast.
"Where did they all go?" He narrowed his eyes
A soft hiss curled out from his sleeve, yawning lazily: "Of course there's nothing. What beast dares to bare its teeth in my presence?"
A small snake barely the length of a crop stick, slithered up from his sleeve and coiled around his shoulder. Its scales were shimmered silver white and sparkled brightly. It flicked its tongue once then lifted its head with pride. This prideful snake was none other than Shiny, who has successfully changed its appearance.
Yujian was speechless: "You mean you did this?"
"Obviously, you stupid boy, don't waste my time. The beasts here are so weak they can't even fit between the gaps of my teeth." It said confidently.
"I need to kill them to clear this level." Yujian mumbled angrily.
Shiny looked disdainfully at Yujian: "If you were stronger, these low grade animals would never dare to bite you." It drops its head and sighs: "Okay… hurry up and kill them, seeing such weak beasts makes me nauseous."
Yujian was fed up with this stupid snake who only has pride in its eyes and always complains: "How am I supposed to kill them when they don't even dare to show up because of you?"
"And they should be." Shiny raises its tiny head higher: "I'm not some low blood beast born in this era of weakling cultivators. I was once the Scourge of Eight Rivers, Monarch of a thousand domains. Children tremble at my name and they fear me more than death itself." It smirked smugly.
"Then maybe you should go back to sleep." Yujian muttered
Shiny hissed: "How dare you? Have you forgotten who I am?" It glared at him venomously
"I came here to gain experience and to straighten my foundation. How am I supposed to learn if I just stay here listening to your incessant nagging? " Yujian snipped back
"Why do I even bother with you, you useless human? Why are you still alive, anyway? I don't see how you are useful or capable, it's all because of that damn fruit spirit that I'm in this situation."
Yujian stopped walking, his brow twitching: "You've been doing this since the day I awakened you. You always complain, whine and scream in my ears nonstop. This behavior is becoming annoying to me."
"What?" Shiny stared at Yujian, shocked:" You can't be serious!"
Yujian turned and glared at Shiny angrily: "Shut up! It's just one thing. But every single time I try to explain everything to you it doesn't even occur to you to understand the point."
"I don't care what you say, you have to listen to me!" Shiny threatened but immediately regretted it when Yujian's glare intensified even more. He quickly backed down: "Fine...I won't talk anymore...just tell me one thing."
Yujian nodded, gesturing to continue talking.
"Isn't it good to have a stronger companion? In this way, you won't have to go through the hardship yourself. You'll always have someone to protect you. Isn't that a good thing?... So why are you always so uneasy?"
Yujian exhaled slowly after taking a few deep breaths. This snake is always testing his patience: "Suppress your aura!"
"What?" Shiny tilted his head confused: "Why?"
"If you don't, I'll immediately seal you back in my sea of consciousness for a week so you can enjoy the darkness!" Yujian threatened, narrowing his eyes dangerously.
Shiny eyes widened: "You wouldn't!"
"Try me!" Yujian smiled sweetly. It would've been better if he didn't smile. At this point of time, it looked absolutely terrifying.
Shiny's body trembled with terror: "Okay okay! Let me calm down." It took a couple seconds to regain its composure: "I'll suppress it... but you're crueler than you look."
As a beast that had been sealed away for thousands of years, Shiny has developed an unexplainable fear and anxiety towards darkness, which has increased exponentially over the years.
The moment Shiny aura retreated, the atmosphere of the forest changed drastically.
It was subtle at first, but it soon became obvious. A strong sense of danger enveloped their entire surroundings. A cold murderous intent crept its way towards them.
They both quickly turned their heads in different directions and saw a huge figure emerging slowly.
Yujian lips lifted in the faintest smirk: "Finally."
The large figure was standing right in the middle of the dark forest. Its body was as wide as five men. There was a long tail wrapped around the body as well as sharp claws and fangs protruding from its mouth. Its golden pupils were fixed on Yujian. It was a level 3 beast which is as strong as a cultivator at the last stage of Physical Body.
Li Yujian is currently at the 7th level of Physical Body. But he believes that he can handle it with no problem. The beast lunged at him at full speed, showing a hint of excitement.
Yujian didn't move until the last moment. His foot shifted, and he twisted aside . As he evaded it, his fingers brushed along the beast flank as it passed.
A green light flickered across his fingertips before striking the beast in the abdomen. The beast let out a loud cry mid-air before crashing to the ground.
Behind him, Shiny hissed in surprise: "You... you poisoned it that fast?"
Yujian shrugged: "I just happened to hit its meridian. I also didn't expect the poison to work too fast." Li Yujian looked at his hands , examining his nails. They suddenly expanded when he channeled his qi through his fingertips, turning into long sharp blades.
"You really aren't simple." Shiny commented in shock. If it wasn't for the fact that Yujian hasn't done anything in the past days after its awakening, it probably would've thought that Yujian was just an average person.
Yujian himself didn't expect his bloodline to be this powerful. After the awakening, his spiritual Qi turns into venomous qi which he could manipulate by his finger tips, transforming into sharp blades.
There is nothing more magical than this ability. The poisonous qi corrupts the flow of energy around him, and It can also inflict fatal damage to anyone who comes in contact with it.
The other beasts hesitated, they sensed something amiss but their intelligence weren't that high so they attacked again based on instant.
Yujian slashed one of them down without hesitation and immediately followed it up with another slash.
In just a blink of an eye, Yujian slaughtered several beasts.
As he was killing these beasts, he felt as though he was flying through the air.
Such sensation and freedom is something he'd never felt before. When they were kicked out of their home, he was helpless. Watching his father drink his frustration away , unable to stop him made him feel horrible inside.
He was also helpless when his two younger siblings were sent to work just to pay off their father's debt. The guilt had been eating him up since. As the eldest, he wanted his siblings to leave all the responsibilities to him and live cheerfreely.
Luckily, the heavens haven't given up on them. They now have a loving father and Yujian knew that from here onwards, their lives would only get better and better.
