Jiang Xiu looked at her.
"You've received plenty of those stares too," she said quietly. "People have said things about you, yet you never seem to care. You don't let any of it stop you."
"I don't care when I'm the one on the receiving end," Jiang Yue replied, her voice firm.
She looked directly at her.
"I can tolerate people misunderstanding me. I can tolerate them saying whatever they want about me, but I can't stand watching them hurt you and then pretending it doesn't matter simply because you've gotten used to it."
Her voice softened, but her resolve did not.
"You shouldn't have to get used to people treating you badly."
Jiang Xiu stared at her sister for a moment before finally nodding, her expression softening.
"But, Sister… let me fight some of my own battles. I think part of the reason people keep treating me this way is because they think I'm a pushover."
Jiang Yue frowned slightly.
