"Wake up… baby, please," Kosta begged amid sobs as he continued trashing the room.
The candles that had been set up pretty nicely were mostly on the floor. If it wasn't for the light that the king had set up earlier in the room for his son, this place would have been partially dark by now.
But was that even possible when the walls were white and reflecting every ounce of light that made it through?
Kosta didn't care that it was night outside, or even that the cold air was coming in through a hole he had just pushed into the shot well. It was his desperate attempt at waking Tamiko up; maybe the cold winds would wake his beloved up.
Maybe it would bring him back to Kosta.
Maybe that was what Kosta needed.
But then Tamiko didn't wake up, even then.
Not when Kosta trashed the books and scrolls in the room.
Not when vases went flying across the room in white rage.
