In less than 2 hours, Aiko woke up in a medical ward in Yeager's RSA headquarters in Yokohama, and she was shocked that someone had saved her from death. And beside her, the spirit of a mother was smiling at her with warmth. The spirit's name was Hanae Nishimura, a mother who perished during the downfall of humanity. She was a Recent Spirit, a kind of spirit that appeared after the Great Collapse, and they had to receive any power from the Elemental Spirits like Saya. In Hanae's case, it was Sakura Rays. Recent Spirits tend to have names unlike most Elemental ones.
"Hello, my dear..." Hanae said to her.
"W-Who are you?" Aiko got up, and her eyes darted around.
"My name is Nishimura Hanae, a casualty of humanity's downfall..." Hanae replied back.
"W-What?" Aiko's ears couldn't believe that.
"I had died in the Great Collapse..." Hanae replied with melancholy of her final moments before her demise, "...my only son was 18, and he, too, perished..."
Aiko felt bad for her, and then, Yeager entered the room with Clare and two doctors.
"Ah, you're awake..." Yeager said to Aiko while the two doctors checked her vitals.
"Y-Yeager-san..." Aiko responded back, "...but why did you..."
"You deserved another chance to live your life again, outside of the madness of the IDA," Yeager responded back while checking the pulse on her hand. "Plus, this spirit was waiting for a vessel, and I had considered you as her vessel."
Hearing that, Aiko's memory flashes to the reports she and her squad got from the RSA regarding soldiers and students who had spirit guardians, both Recent and Elemental ones, and how much Guren and other superiors were disliking it and how Yeager was so lenient and "soft" rather than hostile or full of prejudice.
Because of that, she felt that the IDA might considered as KIA (Killed-In-Action) and a casualty to them, and feeling sick of the cold environment, she said to Yeager and Hanae, "Yes, I want to defect here. I can't handle the environment of the IDA anymore..."
She then glanced at Hanae. "Hanae-san, I am now your vessel."
As the middle-aged Hanae nodded, Aiko looked back at Yeager. "Do I need to do a ritual to be a vessel to her?"
"No, a spirit guardian will just touch your forehead and slam into you," Yeager responded back, "with that, you'll have the powers of that spirit guardian."
Because of that, Aiko glanced at Hanae. "I'm ready."
With that, Hanae used one of her ghostly fingers on Aiko's forehead, and a light flashed between them, a light with pink Sakura petals swirling around them. And then, the spirit of Hanae slammed into Aiko's body, taking possession of her body for life.
After that, Aiko felt lighter and better in strength.
Her demon was afraid of Hanae, but Hanae's motherly warmth had calm down the demon's nerves.
When a demon and a Spirit are in the same body of a person, their powers can combine into a powerful one. In this case, the Cursed Weapon bow can now shoot arrows with Sakura explosions and are perfect for nighttime signaling. Now, Aiko felt better and said to Yeager, Clare, and the two doctors, "Thank you, Yeager-san."
"You're welcome," Yeager replied with a smile. "Welcome to our group."
Meanwhile, in the City Hall, things are still dire. Yuichiro was still in pain and agony after swallowing the two Demon Pills. Myeong's Anglican-style prayers are becoming more frequent, whiel Atsushi stretched out his right hand and made quiet Protestant prayers. He still carries his Christian Baptist faith from his past life to this life, though in this life, Christianity in this world had almost collapsed, and the doctrines and rules had been almost snuffed out. But he still carries the morals and values of it even to this life.
And then, everything became quiet, and Yuichiro collapsed to the dirty floor in a coma-like state. Within the realm, Asuramaru offered strength to Yuichiro with a smirk on her face, and Yuichiro grabbed on to it in desperation.
And so, Yuichiro woke up with a gasp, and he did not go too far to be transformed, much to their relief from their anxieties.
Myeong did the sign of the cross, while Atsushi did the Pietist way of the sign of the cross (personal, and 1 long vertical downward and 1 short horizontal to form the beam of it).
At the same time, Mikaela, Basuki, René, Lacus, and the other vampires in their side are now closing in, but the biggest challenge for René, Lacus, and the other vampires is being anonymous from the Shinoa Squad and the other IDA.
