An example of that was Sofia, who ended up attending an ordinary school rather than an academy that could prepare her for the life of a Watcher.
There were many Watchers and Balancers who grew up living out much more normal lives that were not too heavily influenced by the supernatural world, whether it was them not being too deeply tied to the Balancer Association or the schooling systems.
The family of Sofia may have had some connections that allowed her to join Dead End in the Capital, but it did not help much in other ways.
Even those connections had only helped to get her an interview.
It got her through the door, but it was still up to those in Dead End to accept her or to decline her.
None of her family connections could help her establish a place for herself in Dead End.
Everything that could be gained would have to be from how much effort she put in and from each of her accomplishments.
