Shao took a deep breath as he stood outside the gates of the Ashar palace. He knew what he had to do, but he couldn't shake the feeling of dread that filled him. He was about to kill the king and queen of Ashar and take their throne for himself.
The night was dark and quiet as Shao made his way through the palace, his footsteps muffled by the soft carpet beneath him. He could hear the faint sounds of snoring coming from the guards stationed throughout the halls, and he knew he had to move quickly before they woke up.
Shao's sword glinted in the moonlight as he slipped through the door to the royal bedroom. The king and queen were sleeping soundly, their chests rising and falling in a steady rhythm.
Shao's heart pounded in his chest as he raised his sword, ready to strike. He hesitated for just a moment, but it was enough for the queen to stir in her sleep. She opened her eyes just as Shao brought his sword down, but it was too late.
The blade sliced through the air, glinting in the moonlight, and the queen's life ended in an instant. The king woke up with a start, but Shao was already upon him, his sword flashing through the air.
The fight was short and brutal, and soon the king lay dead at Shao's feet. Shao stood there for a moment, catching his breath, before he turned to the remaining subordinates.
"Use the bells to wake up the citizens of the capital," he said, his voice ringing out clear and strong. "I am the new king of Ashar."
The subordinates looked at each other uncertainly, but they knew better than to question Shao's authority. They quickly set to work, ringing the bells and shouting to the citizens to wake up and come outside.
Soon, the city was alive with activity, and Shao stood at the palace gates, watching as his people emerged from their homes and stared at him in awe and fear.
"Listen to me," Shao said, his voice ringing out over the crowd. "I know what it's like to suffer under a corrupt king. But I promise you, things are going to be different now. We're going to rebuild Ashar, and we're going to make it strong again."
The people listened to Shao's words, and slowly but surely, they began to accept him as their new king. The main army that was out in the fields and protecting cities did not retaliate, and Shao began to make preparations to stabilize the Ashar kingdom and rebuild their military.
It was the beginning of a new era in Ashar, and Shao knew that it was up to him to make sure that the kingdom thrived once again.
