"Milady! Watch out!"
Aidera's eyes caught a flash at the last second. Too bright. Too blinding. She didn't know whether the bolt was aiming for the campus building… or aiming straight at her.
Then came the blast.
A thunderous detonation tore through the air, shaking the world and deafening everything alive.
*Crack— BOOOOM…!
The shockwave roared through the campus. The bolt ripped straight past it, stabbing into Building B like a falling star. The left wing exploded in a violent spray of debris, more like a bomb than a natural strike.
Screams rippled across the field. Students scattered.
Clara's ears rang as she hit the ground hard. Pain tore through every limb. Warm blood trickled from her right ear, but there was no time to process it.
"… MILADY!" Her voice cracked in terror.
Dust choked the air. The place where Aidera had stood a heartbeat ago was now a mountain of shattered concrete.
"No… no no no- This can't be happening!"
