She stopped going, and for two years, there was a cold distance. But this year was peculiar, as the Ye family members remembered her again.
Nan Jiaojiao remained silent for a while as Ye Congwen probably thought of his neglect toward this daughter. He regretted his words as soon as they left his mouth but, due to his pride as an elder, couldn't bring himself to speak more kindly.
"I'll send you some clothes and jewelry later; just give me your address."
Nan Jiaojiao sat up, grabbing her hair and leaning back against the headboard, her hair scattering over her face, making it indistinct under the sparse light filtering in through the window.
"Jiaojiao, are you listening to me?"
Ye Congwen grew more impatient.
He had never liked contacting Nan Jiaojiao, simply because he disliked her personality. Her mouth seemed sealed shut, unable to utter a pleasant word, and she was too lazy to deal properly with people she didn't want to bother speaking to.
