Aida Suleika chatted lightly with Councilwoman Yun as the guests for her weekly table filtered into the room.
The day had been the most exhausting one of her career, not least because of the immense relief she felt at knowing the schism within the Rebellion could now begin to heal.
Tonight was going to be far more important than it would have been otherwise, not least because the next few days would depend on the Army's ability to march in lock-step with the council.
She watched as Commander Zai walked in, a lieutenant guiding her to the seat on the other side of Councilwoman Yun.
"And of course, if you were to apply yourself as a candidate for the position of Chairman, you would have our support," Yun continued before generously sipping her wine as she eyed the General. The Councilwoman was trying to push Suleika into a more prominent political role, the better to deal with the situation that the death of the Second Lightning was inspiring.
