Ethan was wondering where he was. Bulma was still shocked to see Gina flying, and Mrs. Briefs was watching quietly with a hand covering her mouth, clearly surprised by the display. Dr. Briefs had just returned from finishing some work with his secretary in the other room.
Knowing that Gina could be competitive and playful, Ethan decided to use a trick that only the two of them understood. Moving quickly—fast enough that no one else could follow—he used the same light tapping gesture on her shoulder that he had given before at home, a simple, familiar signal between them to calm her energy.
Tap
Gina gave a small tilt of her head, which told Ethan it was working—she understood his intent—so he continued the playful taps.
Tap"Mmm…"
Tap"Hey!" she said with a grin.
Tap!"Hah!"
Gina finally pulled away from their earlier conversation, still smiling. She gave him a slightly exaggerated pout that made Ethan pause for a moment.
"It's not the right time yet, but once we've had a proper break, I'll make sure we finish our talk," he said firmly.
"Yay!" she cheered, spinning on her heel and heading back to her spot. But before doing so, she shot Bulma a look that clearly meant, don't get in my way.
"Phew…" Ethan exhaled, then turned to Bulma. "What was that about? Why did you suddenly kiss me?"
"Well… I-I…" Bulma couldn't seem to find her words. It looked like her mother might jump in to help, but Ethan smoothly continued.
"You didn't want to lose someone who might actually understand you. And maybe also because you think I'm handsome—since I called you beautiful. Bulma, I think you've had people put you down before, which hurt your confidence," Ethan said, meeting her eyes.
"You shouldn't listen to them. Listen carefully—just once more: you're intelligent, beautiful, strong-willed, and you protect the people you care about with everything you have. You're kind, Bulma."
They weren't magical words that would fix everything, but they were what she needed to hear. Tears welled in her eyes—sadness for an older sister who envied her intelligence, sadness for her mother's distractions, sadness for a father who seemed too wrapped up in his work.
Bulma had long stopped being naive; she simply wanted someone to understand her and share happiness with her. She ran toward Ethan and buried her face in his chest, crying and letting out all the frustration she'd been holding back for so long.
Ethan gently patted her back, tracing light circles to comfort her, thinking, I didn't expect a classic Shounen moment to work. For the next few minutes, he simply stayed there, helping her calm down.
Before long, Bulma was sleeping peacefully, a small trail of drool on her cheek.
"Well, well… I'll take Bulma to her room. I think my friend from the gym came to pick me up!" Panchy said cheerfully, though she gave Ethan a brief, knowing smile as she lifted Bulma in her arms and left the room.
"Dear, enjoy your time here," said Dr. Briefs, walking back over. "Now then, young man—what do you really want?"
"Well, I came to see how much you'd offer for those items over there," Ethan replied, pointing to the Battle Pod spaceship, battle armor, and scooter.
They began negotiations, and Ethan secured a contract for 20% royalties on anything developed from the spaceship's technology—a high value to make up for not receiving full payment upfront. In addition, Dr. Briefs offered 7% of Capsule Corporation shares, completing the deal so that Ethan would also receive monthly dividends.
Ethan had two more requests:First, to add an extra room in his house with training equipment, including a gravity chamber.Second, to build a spaceship together for possible exploration of another solar system. Ethan planned to use it for missions against parts of Frieza's empire to capture their technology. Dr. Briefs even suggested improvements that could make the trip to Namek in just seven days instead of months.
"Of course," Dr. Briefs said. "Just be careful. You have two people to look after now."
Ethan glanced at him, wondering if he meant Bulma and Panchy. He decided not to overthink it and nodded.
Dr. Briefs stood, patted Ethan on the back, and went to store the spaceship in a capsule box.

After that, he left Ethan and Gina alone in the room, as if already expecting they'd be staying. Ethan looked at Gina, and she looked back at him.
"First mission together!" Gina exclaimed.
Ethan smiled. If that was the plan, he was ready to use his abilities properly this time.
"To take on the whole galaxy!"
