Lance had no idea what the conversation on the other side was about. After handling some of his work, he finally managed to find time to head to the backyard.
The door lock opened. Instead of hearing the shrill howling of wolves, it was unusually quiet. But in the next second, a figure burst out from the corner, its fierce face emerging from the darkness, exuding a strong intent to kill.
Lance's reaction was anything but slow, as he directly kicked the figure away.
The figure rolled a few times on the ground and got up the next second, seemingly unharmed by the attack.
Sensing the strength of its opponent, it didn't launch a rash attack. Instead, it crouched low to the ground, its throat emitting a trembling growl.
Lance finally saw its appearance clearly. What met his eyes was an exaggeratedly large wolf cub, robust and agile, with thick and lush fur. Some patches were matted with blood, adding to its disheveled look.
