Meemee pulled up a schematic of the room and started to light it up for us. The next room was larger than I expected and oddly shaped, with Alcoves on both sides. They were deep, and there was a dome for a roof. Consoles and a dried waterway showed that this was where they used to control the purified water after filtering out the waste materials. It was something there were three solid railings that looked to be thick steel and bridges across the waterway. We were on the wrong side of the waterway, meaning we would have to go through it to reach a close range with them.
They would have much better cover, and a blitz strategy would not work with armor. They were ready for it. I instantly missed my shotgun as this was a better fight with it than with my assault rifle. Meemee started to light up the enemies, and it seemed they were all looking ready for a fight. Luckily, none of them were carrying heavy weapons, which was the best news we had yet. Counting, I noticed there were seven guards and one person they seemed to be guarding.
I believed the VIP to be the one in the lightest armor, but something told me not to underestimate him. He was carrying a Submachine gun with an extended magazine, and I turned to Emma. "Emma, you are going to cover us. We cannot get outflanked, and you are our hope on that, understood?"
"I think I would be better at it this time, Sleepy," Nyadia spoke up, and I looked at her. "This is going to be a cover fight with mobility being a key issue. That is not good for a heavy weapon user. I would much rather have something smaller for cases like these," She commented, but I thought about it.
"Then Emma, you are upfront. Nyahdia is covering our rear, and Meemee will leave behind a camera just in case to mark and trace those coming up our rear. We still have traps, but they will move up cautiously. Nyahdia, if we need your help, you come in, guns blazing, and we will attack as hard as possible. That will be a last possible resort. I will run the point, although my shotgun is broken. Emma will be following me up, and Meemee will be our support with drones. I want you to take control and highlight. I want you to take advantage of anything we can. Try not to get hurt, ladies; let's move," I snapped, and I grabbed a couple of smokes along with a stun.
Opening up the door, I tossed in the stun, and I heard a gun shoot the door. The stun grenade went high, and I tossed the two smokes in after it, one going low to give us a bit of cover and one going for the middle of the room for even more. The door slammed shut, and we waited a second more, and I moved. The door opened, and I ducked and ran low into the smoke. My passive camouflage worked wonders still, and they began to fire into the smoke a little. They were not mindlessly shooting, and I wondered if they were faking their blindness. They shot in bursts, and I reached the first cover and saw Emma marked in my HUD do the same. Meemee Reached her cover and started to launch drones, and I moved.
I moved to the far cover where the smoke was no longer, and I popped out of cover and aimed at the first fully armored man. He looked into the smoke, firing off a burst before turning to me as he could see me. I almost gasped, but I released a three-round burst into him. Unfortunately, the rounds hit the armor, and I heard the sound of a ricochet. I ducked down just as he started to shoot full auto.
"THEY HAVE SOMEONE WITH CAMO~!" The man announced, and I saw Emma come up. The man yelling just happened to catch one of the armored men's attention, and he turned just a moment before Emma came up. Emma was aiming her gun without flinching, and she was ready. Her assault rifle shot in full auto, and I watched as the helmet held up for a moment before it broke and blood sprayed from the helmet, and Emma took the first armored kill.
"Got him~!" Emma cried out as she pressed her back to the cover.
The sounds of rifles shooting filled the room, and I crawled along the ground. Then I jumped out and used the HUD highlight to unload at one of the people providing cover. Then I noticed one of them with a grenade. "One of them around about to throw a grenade~!" I announced, "Highlight it!" I ordered, and a half second later, the grenade showed up, and they tossed the grenade at Emma. I watched as they tossed the grenade. My rifle blasted through the armor of one of them, and they died screaming.
Emma Dove away, and Meemee seemed to calmly move away, and the explosion rang in our ears. "We have company coming from behind~!" Nyahdia announced, and I got back into cover as they shot at me. I wanted to move forward, so I jumped out of cover and rolled to the next cover. I leaped over the railing, snapped my gun up, and saw one of them start to look down into the pit.
My rifle was there, and I shot his helmet.
The Helmet held as my rifle bullets hit his mask, but I saw their head bending back as they screamed. My rifle continued and shot at their neck, but they were already backing out and disappeared behind covered. "Kill those fuckers!" I heard someone yell, "They are just trash hunters, KILL THEM! KILL THEM! KILL THEM! CHARGE THEM~!" the man screamed, probably the VIP, as he panicked, and I hoped they listened to him. The HUD showed six enemies still up, but I clearly hurt that last one I shot, and I changed magazines, knowing I only had a few shots left in mine. Our position was in the water flow canal, and my cover was shit. I would never have put Emma and me here if not for the HUD.
I waited, and Meemee came through the communications, "I am ready; my drones will shoot, NOW!" Meemee announced, and the sound of gunfire sounded at the same time, and you heard yelling from the other side of the room.
"THEY HAVE DRONES!" That panicked voice yelled, and on our HUD, they looked up, found some of the drones, and started shooting at them.
Emma and I did not waste the opportunity. As soon as they stopped looking at us, we got out of cover and out of the waterway, leaping up, and we found them looking in the wrong direction. "Got 'em," I announced, and I started shooting. I saw one go down as a bullet ripped through a weak point of armor by luck in the first couple of shots. I turned and blasted the helmet of the guy I had before, and this time the Helmet of his armor did not hold, and I saw purple blood spray out the other end. I turned to notice that it was the VIP who was screaming and now aiming a handgun at Emma.
I shot. His hand blasted back, and I shot him again as I leaped over the last barrier. I kicked the gun away, and I turned to see one last enemy still up, and he was aiming directly at me. Why had she not taken him down already?! SHIT I AM-!
Emma started to shoot him, and his gun turned away from me as she hit his shoulder. He cried out, and she shot him again and again till the blood came out, and they fell to the ground. I turned to the VIP, tore off their helmet, and grinned. I took out the tablet and took a picture, which confirmed the VIP objective.
"Ladies, WE CAPTURED THE TARGET!" I announced, and I heard Nyahdia roar over the mic.
"That is fantastic and all, but we have more coming for us. They are not willing to give him up!"
"Meemee, Emma, Go assist Nyahdia; I will finish securing the VIP!" I announced, and the minigun sounded. Somehow, I had drained it out of my mind as we were in the firefight. I did not care at this moment as I turned to the VIP.
"DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM!" He screamed, and my fist smashed into the alien's mouth, and green blood spilled out, and they cried, and my fist hit his face again.
"Don't be so fucking cliche!" I announced, grabbed a capture collar, wrapped it around his neck, and tested the features. He was secure, and nothing the armor could do about it. "Strip off the armor and call off your men.
"FUCK YOU!" He spat, and the spit hit my helmet. "GO FUCK YOURSELF CUNT!"
"Shut the fuck up and strip," I ordered, and the guy started to scream as he fought the commands. He tried and tried but then started to strip off the armor. The armor was off, and he was naked with dark purple skin on display as yet another alien species. I did not have time to care about it as I just locked him up in cuffs, "You are not allowed to make noise or move. That is an order," I told him, and he froze and sneered at me.
Then I looked over and noticed five new enemies coming at us. Nyahdia did not seem to care as I suddenly saw in my HUD that they died as bullets ripped through them. Some jumped to the sides and looked like they were discussing. "Where are all these guys coming from?" I demanded. Then I looked around the room as no one could answer that, and I tried to find an exit. "Meemee, is there an exit in this room?" I asked.
"There should be, but I cannot see it with my drones. The door should be in the middle of the wall between the consoles, but there is no door there," Meemee said. I moved to where she was talking about, and I smashed my foot up against where she said it was, but there was nothing.
"You, Dumb bitch," I snapped at the VIP, now naked of armor. "Where is the exit?" I snapped.
"You think we would leave an escape route? The only reason you caught me was that I was on inspection, you fuc-" The back of my hand smashed against his face, and I frowned. Something told me that he was not wrong, but I decided to make sure. I pulled out my handgun, slinging my rifle onto my back, and stuffed it into the guy's mouth.
"You have one more chance. Open up the exit, and we will bring you out alive. If you don't, then don't blame me for accidentally pulling the trigger." He froze, and I compressed the trigger a little, and he screamed, and I pulled it out. 'Ready to talk.
"Fuck you bitch," He snapped, and I let go. I looked over, and I noticed the girls had not been shooting.
In our HUD, three were just waiting. Their body movement that was highlighted no longer looked spirited. They were not charging mindlessly, and I wondered. "Stay here; don't move; you cannot defend yourself or attack anyone for any reason," I ordered, and I headed to Nyahdia, Emma, and Meemee, who was standing to the side looking distracted.
"Any more movement?" I asked, and they all shook their heads, and I nodded. So, I made a snap decision. "I think-" I was about to say more when the men in our HUD turned and ran instead, and I went back, grabbed the VIP, and said, "We are following them out. I don't want this place to blow up, but if they are retreating, we need to secure the place.
They ran, and Meemee followed with drones. Ten people were left, it seemed, and they all ran. Some grabbed some things on their way out but were now fleeing. All of them were heading out the way we came, and I was glad we had security measures up on our transportation. We moved and started to reclear the entire place.
It seemed that much to my delight and only minor damage; we had finished the bounty. "There are many odd things, ladies, let's grab the VIP piece of shit and move back to the front. We move slowly and check out everything. Find out where all these people came from!" I announced.
We continued to move slowly through the Crew Quarters, and to my surprise, the Blueprints were wrong. The Crew area was much more massive than we thought, and there was a second armory that was cleaned out with nothing but scraps of ammo left on the floor. They had enough to arm everyone in the place, and the place was meant for people to live down here for as long as the temporary factory was here.
When we finally cleared the crew areas, I gained a firm understanding of how things were. The places that were supposed to be the back exits in the blueprints had literally been sealed with their form of Concrete or something. It was thick and heavy, and there was no door for us to access. They clearly did this on both sides because they wanted the entrance to be the focal point for all movement throughout the factory. Coming back to the entrance, the computers here, Meemee and Nyahdia said, were for scanning people and decontamination for shift changes. This front room was the security strong point. It was supposed to be where they were watching and defending and buying enough time for people to come assist and put more pressure.
I quickly realized what happened.
We lucked out Majorly when we came up. The alarm on the computer when we showed up was misinterpreted and ignored because they were going through a Shift change and were busy. Which is when we struck, blasting holes through what they probably thought were thicker walls than they were. Blindly trusting the walls to be good cover, the Minigun ripped through a hundred rounds in seconds through those same walls and blasted holes through the material like it was paper. The results came that we killed about a third of the enemies in the initial assault when greeting them. The people meant to control the security were probably some of the ones killed in the initial assault, or they were not here at all. Because of that, they were disorganized and could not put up a proper defense.
Was this tutorial luck?
Or did I create my own luck?
We did have the plan of coming in early in the morning on the Planet, which would technically be shift change time. Then there was more, outside in the Sewers, we got a couple of nice prizes as well. They received Reinforcements from outside who came to assist as they were nearby, and many of them died trying to catch up to us it seemed as if three Van-like Skimmers stood ready for us to take.
It was yet another major haul, and with the place secure, it was time to begin to raid the place for spoils and report to the local law enforcement what we had. We would not be able to keep the illegal substances, but we could also have a bunch of the equipment turn legit and not have to worry about sending it back to Burvine.
With that, We began to hire people to assist and report our findings.
