Chapter 2 - Chapter 2 Youth & Basics of Magic

As soon as the men closed the door to give Arian and Amelia some peace, they started talking.

"The baby was born with his magic already active. His power will be unmatched." Gellert said, deep in thought.

"Yes. He will need training from all of us if he is to reach his full potential." Dumbledore said.

"I need to go set up an Heir vault for him in case something happens to me. I want him to have some spending money whenever we take him out." Sirius said after some thought.

"That's a good idea. I'll accompany you to Gringotts. Its never to early for the account to start accumulating funds for him." Gellert said.

"That's a wonderful idea. I'll get the library stocked for the books he'll need for when he starts learning." Dumbledore said.

"Don't forget all the books you have confiscated from the school library, Dumbledore. I know you've taken many." Sirius said.

"Yes, yes. I won't hold anything back on the child's education. He may be young now, but he has a fate already. I'll be sure he has everything he needs to confront it, and more." Dumbledore said as he walked away.

November 1, 1981

Dumbledore arrived at the Grindelwald estate early in the morning to deliver the news of Sirius to Gellert.

"Where have you been, love? Arian just finished breakfast and none of you were here to eat with him." Gellert said, clearly upset with Albus.

"Oh. I'm sorry, Gellert." Dumbledore said before Arian looked his way.

"Papa!" Arian said as he started taking off in a run, directly for Dumbledore.

Not being able to stand Arians cuteness, Dumbledore rushed forward to pick him up with a half smile on his face.

"Sigh...speaking of Sirius. He was arrested this morning. Apparently, he killed Peter Pettigrew, but I'm still waiting for more information on that part. There's some good news though, Tom was defeated last night, but he killed all the Potters except for their one year old, Harry." Albus said, with a sad look on his face.

"Will the child be alright? I'm more than willing to adopt and help raise the boy." Gellert said, clearly getting his hopes up.

"His mother used some kind of sacrificial ritual, giving her life to save her son. The killing curse rebounded off young Harry back to Tom. But I'm not sure if it killed him. Both his body and wand are missing, but his cloaths remained." Dumbledore said, deep in thought.

"There are a few things that could accomplish that. Nothing good at his low level. You should have just let me kill him." Gellert said with a furrowed brow.

"No. The prophecy clearly states that a child born last school year would end him." Dumbledore said.

(I haven't figured out the wording yet, but the prophecy will change to a child born that will enter Hogwarts in the school year 1991-1992)

"Ridiculous. Prophecies are only guidelines to get us where we need to go. They are NOT a set course of things to happen. Just seeing the future changes it." Gellert said adamantly.

"We've always disageed on this topic darling. I believe young Harry is the focus of the prophecy." Dumbledore said.

"I don't care about prophecies. Get that child here so that we can educate him and make sure he has all the education he needs to do what you think needs done! He can be raised with Arian and they can anchor each other. They can also compete with each other to reach new heights. And if you are right, Arian can aid him on his 'prophesied' quest!" Gellert said.

"...you've convinced me. The child's muggle relatives are crap humans anyway. Here, take young Arian while I go get Harry." Dumbledore said.

"No. Take him with you. Get him used to apparating. The sooner his body acclimates to it, the sooner I can teach him and take him places." Gellert said.

"Oh, very well. I will be back shortly darling." Dumbledore said before he left with a pop.

August 31, 1985

"Happy fifth birthday Harry!" Arian screamed as he jumped into his little brother's bed.

"Thanks Arian." Harry said as he sat up, rubbing his eyes.

"Mom's downstairs making your favorite breakfast dishes. Get dressed so we can go eat. Don't forget, we get to go get our wands today since you performed accidental magic two months ago. They said we have to wait til your birthday. COME ON!" Arian said, trying to get Harry to hurry up.

"Right. I'll be down as soon as I shower." Harry said as he jumped out of bed and ran to his bathroom.

Coming down the stairs Arian told his mother "Harry just woke up, he's in the shower now."

"Good. He wouldn't have liked it if your father had to go get him." Amelia said seriously.

"Guess that's why I'm an early bird. Every time I wanted to sleep in I had to train. I don't mind doing it on my own, but I don't like having someone shouting at me while I do it." Arian said with a shiver.

"You learned though, didn't you?" Gellert said as he walked into the room.

"Yes sir!" Arian said going stock still.

"Very good. Now go get dressed before Harry finishes his shower. We are going to your dads trial before we get your wands. I want him there for it, and I'm sure he wants to be there as well. He still doesn't know Harry is here at home with us. He's Harry's godfather after all." Albus said.

"Okay Papa, I'm going now." Arian said as he was running up the stairs.

After he was gone, Albus spoke again "Gellert, you know why you can't come with us to the Ministry, right?"

"Yes, I know. I'll be waiting in the Gringotts bank for you to finish. They'll need the spending money anyways." Gellert said, looking upset.

"Don't fret, Darling. I'll get him out even if I have to start another war. We didn't kidnap this damned rat for nothing!" Dumbledore said as he pulled a small cage out of a deceptively deep pocket.

"Be sure you do, love. Or I will. If they try anything with the proof that waste in the cage is going to supply, I'll start a wizarding war for real this time." Gellert said, making the other two in the room shiver.

"Don't worry about Sirius. I'll be bringing him from Azkaban, personally. No one will get to him while I'm still able to do anything about it." Amelia said.

"Very well. I trust both of you to get it done AND protect our children. If you fail, I don't need a wand to destroy the Ministry itself!" Gellert said.

"Alright, enough of that. I can hear the boys coming down the stairs." Amelia warned.

After a delicious breakfast, the boys left with Albus to the Ministry for the trial. As soon as Sirius was led into the courtroom, the boys recognized him

""DAD!"" they both yelled out before the judge banged his gavel.

"I'll ask why two children are present for this trial, Dumbledore." Barty Crouch Sr. said.

"Young Arian here is his son and young Harry is his godson." Albus said nonchalantly.

"I was not aware House Black had an Heir. Nor was I aware a convicted criminal still had any claim to any godchildren." Barty said as he started going through his paperwork in front of him.

"This information has been kept secret. But we are here to determine whether or not Mr Black is guilty or innocent. Not if there is anything else the Ministry can take from him." Albus said.

"We'll deal with these matters at a later date." Barty began.

"They are in my care, Barty. There is nothing to 'deal with'. Now, procede with the trial. I'm sure the boys would like their dad back already." Albus said pointedly.

"Hmm. Very well. If there is any new evidence to present to the case?" Barty asked.

"There is, your honor. Mr Black was accused of killing one Peter Pettigrew. I present the presumed dead, Peter Pettigrew." Amelia said as she pulled a cage with a rat out of her robes. The entire courtroom was filled with shouts before Barty started banging his gavel.

"Ms Bones! Are you trying to make a joke out of this court?!" Barty was losing his patience.

"No, your honor. Peter Pettigrew is an unregistered animagus. I present Pettigrew in his animagus form, a rat." Amelia said as she used her wand to raise the rat out of the cage. As the rat was screaming trying to get away, Amelia cast the animagus reveal charm and, of course, the rat turned into a man. A man everyone believed died as a hero. He was even given the Order of Merlin Third Class.

"Who found Mr Pettigrew?" Barty said, suddenly serious.

"Believe it or not, it was young Arian. On a visit to the Weasley home, he noticed the family pet was acting strangely. After informing myself, I noticed he was correct and began to observe the rat more closely. After some time I tried a few revealing spells and found out, quite to the family's dismay, that their pet, a common garden rat, was actually a man. A man that had been in their home. Sleeping with their children. Attending school with their oldest. For the last three and a half years, he has been living with the children of the Weasley family. In hiding. Ask him yourself, but I expect Mr Black to be released immediately, with remuneration for his almost four years being falsely imprisoned. And for his children as well." Albus said as he put his hands on Arian's and Harry's heads.

...

"I just wish they would have let me kill him!" Sirius said as everyone used the Floo network to go to Gringotts bank.

"Hush now! We can talk about this stuff tonight after the boys go to bed." Amelia admonished Sirius.

"Good point. My manners are quite rusty after being in that place." Sirius said while the boys were both clinging to him like he would disappear as soon as they released him.

"I can imagine. I, myself was in a similar ordeal after my imprisonment. Though I didn't have dementors and I had a visitor, every now and then." Gellert said as he took Albus's hand.

"Enough of these topics. Let's see the boys to their vaults and get their wands." Amelia said with some impatience.

...

After getting some spending money from their vaults, the boys went with their family to Ollivanders. As soon as they walked through the door, a bell above the frame went off. A few moments later an old man walked out from behind a shelf.

"Hello! I'm assuming you are here for your wands. A bit younger that the norm, but it happens." Garrick said.

(Garrick Ollivander is his full name)

"Yes. We want them to start their education early at home." Sirius said.

"Ah, Sirius Black. I was glad to hear you were proven innocent. Reed wood. Fifteen inches. Unicorn hair core. Above average flexibility. I hope they returned it to you undamaged." Garrick said.

"Yes, though they took their sweet time finding it. Three hours just waiting in evidence. Go on boys, I'm not going anywhere." Sirius said as he pushed the two boys forward gently.

"You can go first, Harry." Arian said, already knowing how it would play out for him.

"Which is your dominant arm?" Garrick asked Harry.

"My right arm." Harry said.

...

After Harry received his wand and heard the story of its brother, it was Arian's turn.

"Alright, young man. Which arm is your dominant arm?" Garrick asked again.

"Im ambidextrous, so either." Arian said.

"Hmm. Interesting. Hold out both arms in a T pose, if you please." Garrick said as he walked back to grab some wands. After five whole minutes, he came back and said "I'm not sure these will work for you. I believe I'll have to make a custom focus for you if they do not."

After trying the first wand, nothing happened. The second wand jumped out of his hand. The third and final wand shattered into countless pieces.

"As I thought. Come with me. We'll have to find out what materials suit you best." Garrick said as everyone filed into a room off the main entryway.

"Okay. Close your eyes and slowly wave your hand over these materials here. This will tell me what wood to use." Garrick said.

After slowly waving his hand over all the wood, he brought it back to the place it felt like a magnet was trying to hold his hand in place before opening his eyes.

"Hmm. Fascinating. Elder wood. I've actually just received a large piece of elder wood so this is no problem." Garrick said as he led Arian to another counter. "Now, the same procedure please."

Repeating the process Arian found that every spot held the same magnetic pull on his hand. The only difference here was a bit of each material was loose so it would stick to his hand. This made it easier to figure out what his core should be made of.

"Fascinating! Truly fascinating!" Garrick was drooling from what happened.

"What does this mean?" Amelia asked, worried.

"It means...I'll have the great pleasure of making him a staff. No wand can use all the materials his focus requires. If I were to try, it would explode as soon as he picked it up and his magic interacted with it. I haven't been able to make a staff in over one hundred years. It will be my honor to make this staff. I'll have it ready in three days and you'll have to come to pick it up then. It will be tall so you won't end up having a cane when you're full grown. Plus, with all the cores you'll need, it can't be too short anyway." Garrick said while almost foaming at the mouth from excitement.

"Alright. We'll be back in three days." Gellert said as everyone headed for the door.

"Yes yes." was all they heard before the door closed behind them with a click. Turning around they saw the sign spun from open to closed.

"So...is this a good thing or bad?" Arian asked.

"A VERY good thing. Staves were opted for wands because wands can be easily hidden and nobody used the spells that staves were required for. But you are so strong that you require a staff immediately. This is nothing but good for you. Casting will be more difficult for you though." Gellert said.
