Ivan's POV
"Why do you insist on teaching her ...?" Eric asked when I was unlocking the gate.
"I don't even know..I find her fascinating " I replied trying to recall her face. She has big brown eyes that suited her perfectly and her hair was really long. She is pretty I won't lie.
"well that will give me the chance to see her often" Eric said .
"Do you like her!" I laughed
"I find her attractive "
"She is but I think she is a hard a girl"
"I could tell but believe me I will have her"
"It's sounding like a bet " I laughed
"I don't mind"
"Cool it's a bet then ..you only have two months" I tapped his back
" I will have her in a month" he replied turning on the TV.
I was supposed to pick Chloe up from her dance class so I quickly freshened up and left. Mom called on my way and we had quite a talk. Daniella my younger sister also lectured me on how she was enjoying the trip and how much she misses me. She even wanted to have a video call but I told her I was driving and hanged up. I arrived at "Shake it off" in an hour time and Chloe was already waiting for me at the gate. She was happily talking to a guy whose hands were all around her face. My heart exploded with jealousy and anger at the same time. it's only been a day since we dated and she was here flirting with a guy.
"Chloe!" I pulled her .
"babe!" she said placing her arms around me
"Who is he " I said trying to calm down. The guy smirked and walked away
"My instructor" she replied
"Are you jealous" she laughed
"I'm not !" I replied upset. I opened the door for her and went to sit behind the wheel.
"Come on Ivan .. look at me " she said turning my head.
"I'm okay Chloe don't worry"
"Are you sure " she said and kissed me. The drive to her place was a silent one. She was busily texting on Instagram and posting pictures. I wonder why I fell in love with her . She makes me doubt whether she truly loves me . She insisted on me staying for a while but I didn't feel comfortable..I started to wonder if I made a mistake but I brushed the thought away.. it's too early to be thinking like that.
I checked the time and it was almost 8:00pm so I didn't stop at home and rushed quickly to the supermarket. Eric was sleeping over at my place so I didn't bother to check the gates nor lock up. I arrived at the supermarket and passed through the back door to my office . That's actually my parent's business but since they weren't around I was the one in charge. I stay at home during the day and came to check the sales. I sat down behind the table and called Jane , the secretary to bring me the records of the day. We went through together and it seems sales were high.
"You may leave" I said not looking at her .
"Can I ask you a question?" she said and I raised my head.
"Go ahead" I replied looking at her.
"Are you seeing Chloe?" she asked to my surprise. I wasn't surprised Jane knew Chloe cause I used to come with her to the supermarket and they used to be friends
"Why do you ask"
"Well I saw her Instagram post" she replied biting her lips.
"well I'm seeing her " I shrugged. Jane and I had history but it was a one night stand .
"Is she prettier than me?" she asked looking straight into my eyes.
"I'm working Jane can we have this conversation another time?" I said grabbing the office phone as I stared at the screen. There was a man who took a drink from the fridge, sipped on it and placed it back.
"Stop the man in white!" I said to the worker who was in charge of that lane.
"Excuse me" I said to Jane and went to where the man was .
"Sir !" the worker greeted but I ignored him.
"I'm sorry sir but I think you left your drink in the fridge" I said trying to be polite as much as possible.
"Nah I bought no drink" he replied nervously.
"Did you not drink from the fridge?" I asked firmly.
"No!" he stammered.
"Don't lie sir ..I saw you and I don't want to go back and check the CCTV footage cause if I do I'm calling the police"
"I just wanted to have a taste" he replied rudely
"We don't do tasting please so grab it back and pay for it" I replied . He cursed angrily, took the drink out of the fridge and placed it in the shopping basket.
"Thanks for your cooperation" I said and walked away. When I got back, Jane was gone . I went through the list of items available and those out of stocks. I crossed checked them handed it to the supplies manager and came back home.
Amara's POV
The weekend was fast approaching and that made me happy. I hated school but I was in love with Fridays. The week went well with Madison and I spending so much time together in school and at home . I've grown fond of her and she was actually a nice friend.
It was closing and I was walking with Madison to my car when a group of five guys approached us. They all looked hot and rich , telling from their outfits.
"Hi " one of them said to us as he smiled.
"Hello" I replied but Madi didn't as she was nervous.
"I'm Jake .." he greeted
"Amara " I smiled shaking his hands.
"What about you sweetheart" he said to Madi.
"Madison" she replied shyly.
"It's nice meeting beautiful ladies like you. I know you on campus Madi but your face looks new" he said looking at me.
"Yeah I've been here only for a week ..I transferred schools"
"That's cool and I hope you are comfortable " he smirked.
"Yeah I love it here " I smiled.
"Your dimples are cute" he complimented.
"I know !"
"I see ..I'm actually throwing a party this weekend and I would love it if you girls came" he said staring at me.
"Cool.." Madison said excitedly.
"Well I can't promise I might be busy during the weekends" I replied.
"Might is better than will" he smiled.
"I will be expecting you" he said and handed me the card. Madi grabbed it and stared at them as they walked away.
"Ain't they hot" she said swooning over them.
"He looks more like a flirt" I said .
I dropped Madi at her house and came home feeling very tired. I was hungry but mom wasn't around so there was no food in the house. Mom had gone to visit dad and would be with him for two days. She asked me to come over but I told her I would be fine on my own which I think I deceived myself. She only went today and I can't even find food to eat. I changed into another dress and headed to the nearby food joint which Madi recommended. It wasn't close to my house but I didn't want to drive. I wanted to walk and observe the neighborhood more.
"Hi !" Eric greeted as soon as I turned after locking the gate and that startled me.
"Jeez ! Are you stalking me !" I said feeling offended for how he startled me.
"Did I startle you ! I'm sorry" he smiled.
"it's okay "
"Where are you headed " he said
"I'm going to buy food" I replied .
"That's cool cause I'm also hungry" he laughed.
"Were you here to see me?" I asked confused because he came from nowhere and is talking as if we are close.
"Yes Amara ..I actually want us to be friends.. hope you don't mind" he said.
"I'm cool" I smiled .
"That's great " he said walking with me.
"Where is your friend?" I asked realizing it's been a while since I saw him.
"Ivan?"
"Yeah .. the hazel eyes boy"
"He went out ..I realized you don't like him so why are you asking about him"
"Really is it all over my face!" I laughed.
"From the way you talk to him I figured it out" he laughed.
"Well I find him annoying and rude" I laughed.
"He can be rude at times" he replied.
"So do you stay with him?" I asked
"No ..I just come to visit but I'm mostly available at his place during the day...you know how boring it is to wait for college applications" he replied.
"I see ..you must be really interested in college.. what do you want to major in?" I asked curiously.
"Engineering"
"Wow you must be really good" I smiled.
"Well I wouldn't brag but I am" he replied . There was a brief silent for a while before we got to the food joint. The place was crowded , I don't know if it was because it was weekends but I kinda liked the crowd.
"I will get us a table" Eric said and I nodded.
