Chapter 2 - Chapter 2

2.1

As I walk in front of the entrance, I can see the two guards. They're in charge of maintaining the front entrances security. I heard that their good. If one of them was to hit me then it would be lights out. It makes sense to have these guards. There are only 1 peacekeeper facility in every city throughout Thronrea. As I walk up the stairs and into the front entrance, they give me a stare to signal that I'm free to go. I hope it means that I am free to go. The last thing that I want is to get into a fight causing me to waste more time. They aren't hitting me, so I think that it is probably safe to go through the door.

As I walk through the entrance, I can see the golden statue of the first peacekeeper. He was the one who decided to venture out to see the rest of the world. Every one called him crazy but he helped to unite all of the other nations together and with his help he maintained peace. He then passed on his knowledge of the outside world to the next generations of peacekeepers. It's probably best not to spend too much time staring. Someone might think I'm a fanboy.

As I'm walking over to the office, I could see the other peacekeepers. They all looked serious. Most were late 20s to early 40s. They were elites compared to me. I hope that I will one day be able to reach their level. I continue to walk until I reach the elevator. I step inside and click on the 8th floor. My boss's office is on the 8th floor. I usually take the elevator instead of walking. I mean honestly walking before work has even started is just the worst.

TING

The elevator has reached the 8th floor and the doors open. I walk out and head to the office. I take a second to think to myself. I can't believe that in all this time I didn't even think of an excuse. The only thing that I can think of is praying that she is in a good mood.

I knock on the office door and wait for her response. There's no response. Perhaps I should just walk inside. I don't think she will mind; in fact, she would probably be happy. As I open the door, I can see something heading in my direction and fast. I duck my head reactively and hear the crashing sound of wood making contact with the wall.

"I thought I told you get here early" She hisses. What do I say. If I don't say anything she will probably throw another chair at me but if I do say something she will probably throw a chair at me. I need to come up with a good excuse quickly or I'm dead. I clear my throat and proceed to open my mouth.

"I stayed up late dealing with paperwork" I claimed.

I get in a defensive position in case another chair comes my way. I turn my head to her, but she looks calm almost as if she didn't just try to take my head off. I'll just do the same as her and pretend nothing happened.

"I assume you're aware of the spirit problem." She says

"What spirit problem?" I respond.

I haven't heard anything about this. "I heard that meditation helps with you're –

A chair comes flying in my direction, but I tilt my head towards the left. Where does this woman keeps getting these chairs from? She looks at me in anger with her red eyes. They look like the fire of hell. Not that I know what hell looks like but I'm sure it looks something like Sakura's eyes. I don't know if I will be able to reason with her. In the past my attempts didn't work.

"I have important work that I need to get to, so I don't have time to waste on you" she said

That's good the last thing that I want to do right now is to be in the same room as her. She hands over a collection of pictures inside of a folder. The folder is a standard police folder with a red stamp saying unresolved. I open the folder and see that there are also papers in there There related to this assignment. I look up to Sakura to see if she is going to say anything else.

"Why are you looking at me, all of the information that you need is in that file?" Sakura asks

"Sorry Sakura" I respond. Oh no I just called her by her first name. Quick I need to divert her attention, so she doesn't realize what I just said. Her eyes widened with anger. I was too slow. I move back into my defensive position in case she tries to throw another chair at me.

"Who gave you permission to call me by my first name?" She asks angrily.

"Sorry I meant miss" I responded with

"Don't ever call me by my first name again" she says while giving me her death stare. She hands over a bag. I open the bag and see that it's Koshikan currency. The Koshikan currency is called Koshkin and is the main currency that is used in Koshika. I open the bag and see that it probably has enough money to last for around a week. That's good. The last time that I had to go to another country I ended up spending around 2 months there. Looking at the money, it reminds me of my friend Aiko. She and a few of the others would claim that the money wasn't enough and that they needed more to cover all of the expenses. Their pretty good

at their jobs so no one doubts their claims and gives them the amount of money

that they ask. They the use the extra money to go out and eat or play games at the local carnival. I've been out with them a few times and while it does feel wrong the food was to die for. While I'm looking at the I smile remembering my friends. I wonder when I will –

WHACK

"Don't even think about using the money for your own entertainment" She shouts. My head hurts and my vision is slightly blurred.

"I swear it's not what it looks like" I replied quickly.

"That's what they all say".

"I was thinking about a funny memory, that's all"

"Sure"

She looks at me unconvincingly. I pick up my stuff and head towards the door. Anyone else in my position would have tried to put in a last comment, only to regret it moments later but I had to learn not to do that the hard way. Deep down Sakura is a kind person but she just has a hard way of showing it. I know that sounds contradictory to what just happened but she chose this job because she wanted to help people.

"Wait" she says

She has a smile on her face. The left side that is, the right side is covered with her long black hair. See I did say that she was a kind person. Perhaps she is going to apologize for almost murdering me on a weekly basis. I look at her with a smile on my face waiting for an apology.

"Could you get me a cup of coffee before you leave?" she asks shamelessly.

This woman really is the devil.
