Now I have came to a sudden realisation, I don't know how to teach. Looking at melody as she stares hopefully at me I go over how Cu learnt runes.
"ARRRGH!" Cu screamed.
" Is that all you got student, if you cant draw runes mid combat whats the point, NOW FASTER!" Teacher yelled.
Hmm, probably not how to teach a child. I will start by introducing the elemental Norse runes, or should I use Greek letters? either way i know Norse so those i shall teach, magic doesn't discriminate across pantheons too much.
" Alright my adorable little student, today we will begin our first lesson, Rune elements for Demigods and Magical girls!" I introduced with enthusiasm to the sound of Melody clapping.
"Now first we will cover the four natural elements, Fire, Water, Earth and Air as most Rune circuits and spells are based from these four." Melody raises her hand as I finish speaking.
"Yes Melody?" I ask.
"Mr Jack, What are circuits? and why only Four elements?" She asks me as i start pulling out my notes on runes.
"Well a circuit is a stationary rune spell, like those barriers I placed around camp, and well my teacher told me that we use the four elements as they are known as foundational elements and can sort of piggy back off that existing belief to be the foundations of spells. Do you understand that?" I ask her.
"Yes Mr Jack" She replied.
"Now lets start with my favourite rune and one you've seen me use a lot. The Fire rune known as 'FEHU', I used this rune when making food for us while we were camping, it also causes increase in health or what magic users call it vitality." I pause to let that sink in only to notice I've gained more students and Melody some how gained an ominous looking note book.
"Well, hello other campers have you come to learn how to be magical girls as well?" I humorously question them. They shake their heads almost in unison as Melody and one of her friends nodded their heads as if they wanted them to fly off.
"Well i will continue this little lesson but I must warn you that magic is not a game it can have disastrous consequences if runes are messed up and could end up causing your own deaths. Anyway were was I? Ah yea, The fire rune, my favourite. It not only can be used to cook your food and has minor vitality effect, it is used in almost all defensive barriers due to its properties as when connected to a proper hearth, like our lovely one at camp, it increases the defences potency so it will weaken enemies while strengthening its defenders. Any questions before I move on to the next rune?" I concluded. I notice the campers writing what I just finished saying and I notice Chiron coming over with an upset expression.
"Mr Night, Is it possible to put multiple of the same rune together? Like three fire runes as three is a good number according to Mr Chiron?" A Hecate? demigod asked as Chiron started to approach.
"Yes you can use multiple of the same rune but it wont increase the power only help the stability depending on what you are trying to do, Make a barrier then yes using three could help, Making a fire to cook not so much." I reply to him.
" Alright, Melody and friends the rest of the lesson needs to be postponed as it seems I need to speak with Chiron, Don't worry we'll continue next time" I end the lesson and the demigods disperse except for Melody who stays behind as Chiron approaches. Great I wonder what could be the issue now, I hope its just to collect some demigod or slaughter an ancient monster, I'm itching to fight something all these spars and defensiveness is starting to get to me. Chiron just arrived and started saying,
"Jack, a message from Hermes was sent to Mr D regarding you being in the camp as your Father is aware of your stay here and as you aren't a Greek Demigod it is being put to vote if you should be allowed to remain at camp. I thought it would be wise to inform you as you do remind me of my old student. And a hello to you as well young Melody, did you enjoy your lesson with Jack?" He said while simultaneously placing a barrier with the Mist so Melody couldn't hear the first part of his sentence.
"Yea, Mr Chiron, Mr Jack is an AMAZING teacher and showed us how to use Magik squiggles to cook food and place b-b-ba-ri-ers for safety!" She responded as they slowly moved away as the implications of what he told me goes through my head. I have saved countless of their children and they want to kick me out, my hand clenched as I took a deep breath. It doesn't matter I didn't come here to help the gods I came for the children and worthy opponents I'll take whats coming as it hits and not before otherwise teacher will come back from hell for remedial training.
