Chapter 23 - Chapter 33: Massacre of Gladstone Village II

***Elsewhere****

In a hut made with straw and clay, the sweet harmony of the song was heard. The song was the only symbol that identified one of the most malicious creatures, the fae. A woman inside the hut, singing in pure excitement and ecstasy, sitting upon a cushioned bed, alongside her lay an unidentifiable dark figure, the figure was like charred wood, releasing hoarse and sparse breaths from time to time. It looked alive? The cloth that covered the entrance of this straw hut slowly raised, revealing two little figures moving mechanically into the entrance, as they stepped in. The faces bore no emotion, moving as if they were puppets on a string.

"Elise....", the black haired woman called. Her eyes filled with tears, as if she had just seen a friend she hadn't seen in a long time. What Elise didn't know was that the black haired woman actually fancied her. Every time she had seen and remembered how Elise had treated Theo, she could feel her sadistic tendencies rising, almost disregarding her senses, sending her into mass hysteria. That's what had caused it. She turned to look at the barely breathing charred corpse. The pain, the hatred, the desire to be the one who caused chaos, they were all food for her. --Can't believe I lost control again. Tsk! It's getting harder to control myself. I have to focus on the mission before they get here-- she thought.

"Don't bother trying to escape the enchantment. You just stepped out into the path of superiority and strength," she said as she watched Elise's eyes with deep interest. She then displayed an annoyed expression as she turned to see Theo, with tears flowing from his eyes. --Why was my life so unlucky? What have I done to receive this treatment? Maybe I am really an unlucky star--, he thought. --Now granny is hurt. It's all my fault--, he thought, as he continued his silent sobs. The dark-haired lady sighed with boredom, pouting as she continued to so what looked like a jelly coat. The coat was slightly brown and had little forms of gray, worn-out fur standing out, closely looking like human skin. She saw his attention on the skin coat she had made, a crazed smile appearing on her face.

"O? Seems like someone is taking a liking to my perfect craftsmanship. A made from a very kind and emotional friend". She said as she laughed hysterically as she watched Theo's pitiful form. Theo couldn't control his body; his facial expression was null and void only indication of this was the constant stream of tears and water flowing from his eyes, and an immersive wave of fear and sadness she felt flowing from him. She then paused mid-laugh and kept staring into the skies. "Yeah, that's right. Anyway, before the main event starts, let's have some entertainment".She said cheerfully, then snapped her fingers. White mist began manifesting in the room, gathering and condensing into three separate large rectangles. Different images began to show on the three rectangular mist. On one rectangular mist, Elise saw her father with eyes full of tiredness, chatting with a suspicious-looking man with a scar on his left eye and a young boy whom she recognized as Edric. The upcoming hunter that her dad had always talked about. The second rectangular mist showed what looked like a gathering of the remaining survivors in the village in an underground bunker, or -- tunnel?-- she thought. Elise sighed with relief as she saw there were survivors. She knew she would survive, but she hadn't known whether all the villagers had died. The memories her eyes let her see are too fragmented and confusing, hard to arrange in order. It seems it was by some stroke of luck that she was able to realize that the village would be destroyed. Her eyes also controlled her emotions and increased her deductive skills daily, as she realized that she had known that her mother was dead. The look in her father's eyes told her all she needed to know. --Possibly what's holding him together would be finding me-- she thought calmly. She then saw Theo's eyes suddenly twinkle as if somehow light had been regained in them. --What had caused such a reaction in Theo?-- she thought as she traced the source of his light to the third screen. What Elise saw caused her brain to shut down in shock and a mass wave of hope. Because what she had seen was the Sanctuary. A group of people, all draped in white robes with golden runes on them, walking through the forest. --It looks like we are going to be rescued.-- She thought. The black haired woman released a slight smile as she saw the child's eyes flash with hope. She then turned her attention to continue her knitting.

Location: Inside the forest,

"James!!" A sharp, muscular voice, filled with panic, cut through the heavily laden forest. A man with a petite figure in a white cloak, a cross on his back, slowly walked towards the owner of the panicked voice. "Sir…", a resolute feminine voice sounded from the man. "…could you please remove that armor? It obstructs our mission", James said, as he watched a man in front of him in a set of ornamental armor. James wondered why someone would bring an ornamental armor to battle, but what could he say? The man before him was a noble. Noble brats were known to be all sorts of crazy; fortunately, they may or may not have gotten the right kind of crazy. This was just a spoiled brat. James thought as he watched the man in front of him wriggling around with vines wrapped around him in his armor, the more he wriggled, the tighter the purple vines became. --What sort of mission is this? Am I also being punished ?-- James thought as he sighed. The noble man had a slight, chubby form; his dull, dreamy eyes looked around frantically for help, the vines spreading around like an infectious disease. "So could you please remove that armor?" James said softly, but the nobleman felt that this was a threat. But he couldn't place a handle on why he felt that James was threatening him. But the nobleman thought that if he could remove the ornamental armor now, he could escape the entanglement and slowly retrieve his armor. He wasn't going to leave behind his armor. It may not be battle armor, but it costs quite a large amount of gold. An armor that was ornamented with rubies, sapphires, diamonds, and even the rainbow coloured plate? It could feed villages. He complained inside. He then looked up to ask James for help, but paused halfway as he felt his hair stand up on end. His eyes widened as James got closer to him. Just a hair's breadth away from him. James' eyes glowed a bright golden color that chilled anyone who saw them. James reached into his cloak, pulling out a dagger. The dagger looked like nothing special; the unique quality of that dagger was that it had a darkened blade. "You… What do you want to do?" The nobleman shrieked as he closed his eyes. James ignored the noble's cowardly action and slashed the vines swiftly. The noble, sensing the feeling of a blade touching any part of his body, opened his eyes as he felt his body less rigid. The noble then gave a winning smile as he stood up. James then turned without a single word, walking into the small crowd.
