"My goodness. How long are they going to stay together?"
Ashera sounded as though Barbara had personally arranged the evening to inconvenience her.
She stood beside Anusha, watching the headmistress converse with Reginald across the hall. From where they were, neither sister could hear a word of what was being said. All they could see was that Barbara continued to speak and Reginald continued to listen.
Neither appeared in any hurry to leave.
"It won't be much longer," Anusha replied.
She had no basis for the reassurance, but Ashera had already complained several times. Repeating the same answer seemed preferable to encouraging her.
Ashera adjusted the handkerchief she still held and frowned.
"Perhaps he really is attracted to large breasts after all."
Anusha turned toward her.
"He is talking to her."
"Yes. For a very long time."
"She's around his age. Perhaps he feels more comfortable having a conversation with someone who shares more of his experience."
